I’d love to be able to review the food here, but this was my third visit and the third excuse I received for not serving food. Today was my final straw, after double checking the hours and double checking social media for any changes to those hours, I went at 1:45 and was told that they were closing at 2 and therefore weren’t doing anymore food for the day. There was a sign on the door that I had missed that said they were closing early for espresso machine maintenance. That doesn’t take 2 hours (and most coffee shops just do this after hours), but more importantly I shouldn’t have to get there to find out about these changes. Had this been a fluke or my only negative experience I wouldn’t be writing this, but it’s always something.Giving more than one star because the employees have all been pleasant. But I’m done trying to get anything here.

Great place to go for some food and drink. It's a little bit off the beaten path and thus a little quieter. I would say their prices are great but it is delicious.

Excellent coffees, helpful, welcoming staff.. also patient with my Libraness. Perfect cafe vibes!!

friendly atmosphere & great service ?

Staff is incredibly friendly and quick. However, I’ve noticed that the drip coffee has been burnt on several occasions and their WiFi connection is poor. I ordered a sandwich there too and it was just.. ok. It’s a cozy little spot, just wish the coffee and food was better. Again, staff members are kind and very sweet!

Great neighborhood coffee/breakfast spot

Great place to meet a friend downtown for a coffee and bagel!

What happened?! I've been coming to Chestnut since 2011, with a couple if years missing due to a move. I went yesterday. To go cups only, no art & empty bookcases, just generally grungy and worn down. So disappointed to see it go downhill, especially with other top notch options nearby.

This place is close to my house, so I do frequent it, but I do wish it was a bit…better. It’s a very basic coffee shop and cafe. Their menu selection is tiny and leaves much to be desired, even for a place that is supposed to have a smell menu and be more basic than not. The saving graces of the place are their overly friendly staff and their comfy atmosphere.

They have the best breakfast bagel sandwich and my favorite is the breakfast burrito i add Sausage but you can have whatever you like. I do enjoy there coffee to. The staff is so friendly.
