Home town favorite Ma n PA burger joint. Capt. Gus's has always none for cheesesteak's, I've been getting the same cheesesteak w/ sauce, add mushrooms, no onion for 40+ yrs.. Taste jus the same, same hospitality when you hit the front door. The faces have changed ah lil, but still family ran and respected..

This place has the most depressing sub I ever had, consisting of four imitation crab sticks in a bun. The lady even suggested to have them cold in the sandwich. I thought they have a special recipe to make this taste differently but no, just plain ingredients. Two star for the freshness of the bun and lettuce.

Come in for a down home sub and daily cut fries made as you watch or read about local celebs, family and Lancaster history from the articles adorning this nostalgic space

Food was delicious. The cheesesteak was a perfect blend of sauce, cheese, grilled steak and onions. The fresh cut fries gives it that home cooked feel.

Being a Lancaster native and having the experience that me and my family have with gus's I must say that the captain is so dearly missed. Good by captain gus. New stupid hours, the food fell off, and nobody answers the phone. Must be nice to destroy your father's legacy.Farwell to a great mom and pop shop.

Captain Gus’s is a breath of fresh air in a fast casual dining scene stuffed to the brim with unremarkable chain restaurants. My cheesesteak was easily the best I’ve had since moving to Lancaster 10 years ago and the staff was friendly and nice. Much like Route 66 Restaurant on the other side of town, the rundown interior may deter the uninitiated but it’s their loss.

I was really intrigued the sign , (best cheesteaks in town) I should've known better, the small sandwich was damn near in a hot dog roll & it was a bit un-sanitary inside...I've been all through Philly & tried some sandwiches that'll make u bite your lip with joy...this place was a big let down.

Very popular local sub shop... it isn't as energetic as it used to be since Capt. Gus passed away, but the food is still as tasty. I love there cheeseburger sub and cheese steak... they really fill the sub roll with meat from end to end.

Great as always...a visit to Lancaster wouldn't be the same without a stop at Capitan Gus's for a steak sandwich.

Old school steak shop near Lancaster's West End neighborhood. Food isn't fancy, but gets the job done if you want filling cheese steak or an Italian sub. If you stop in, try the fish sub. It is underated.
