The Bistro Barberet is a nice place, but it's not really nice. The food was very good, but not awesome. I know you're supposed to expect smaller portions in a french restaurant, but, after $150 for two, I left hungry and unfulfilled. I'm OK with good quantity or good quality, but, personally, if my stomach isn't full and my pallet isn't having a party, then there was little value in the experience. My wife, on the other hand, couldn't stop raving about the incredible flavors on her dish of salmon, and she was perfectly satiated. This is why I gave a high rating for the food, but a low rating for the value. If you don't mind paying, this place is at least worth a try.
Still our #1 place to dine in Lancaster city or county! Always excellent quality food and service!
Our new "go to" restaurant for upscale dinning.
Would have rated food higher, but they were out of my first choices for dessert and entree'.
I have enjoyed this restaurant since it opened. The food is fairly consistent and prepared nicely . This visit was different. They have in the past served a pan fried schnitzel. It was amazing. I was excited to see that it was back on the menu and I happily ordered it. Unfortunately they have now resorted to deep frying rather than pan frying. It was a dark brown, toughened piece of shoe leather. A nice piece of veal was transformed into something chewy and heavy. The one positive aspect was the lovely lemony sauce served with it. The sauce allowed me to get the schnitzel down. So I recommend you avoid it and get their beef bourguignon instead. Itâs fabulous!
The food was beyond awesome, waitress outstanding friendly and knowledgeable. Our table was ready right on time.
Our food was good, but service was very slow. Our drinks sat on the bar for 10 plus minutes and than our server was not very attentive. When she was over she was very friendly, but we told her that we were going to the Fulton Show and the pace didnât pick up. Dinner took an hour and 40 minutes.
Food is always perfection, service was friendly (though maybe slower pace than we like)â¦but recommendations were spot on.
We liked everything about the restaurant EXCEPT the service was SO SLOW. The server was wonderful, but it literally took 25 minutes to get our first drink at the table, after waiting 15 minutes to order it! Definitely not worth the waiting
Consistently the best casual French food in town. Beautiful plates, wonderful flavors and excellent service even with a full house. My favorite place.
