One of the only Chinese restaurants that allows dine in eating, that isn’t a buffet. I’m tired of the over steamed food in a to go container. I wanted freshly made food on the table, and this is the only place I know of in the Johnstown area. The beef and broccoli was excellent! Beef cho cho was very good as well. I’ve had the General Tso’s and it was really good. The hot mustard here is excellent.

Quick edit from 2022 - Szechuan East is under new ownership. I have eaten there and gotten takeout a few times since the changeover and it's fine, but not what it once was. New folks don't seem as friendly and the food is not as good as when the original family ran the place.Original review (from 2018) Szechuan East rocks! This is the family / staff from the original Szechuan Restaurant downtown (Sam and family retired, so downtown is under new ownership). Excellent food & quick service. Great vegetarian options.

Been eating here forever, food is always good and order is always correct!

great place to eat in or take out, they have great food and service. and the prices are great too.?

great place to eat in or take out, the food is excellent and the service is too. yum yum ?.?

Good food. Good quantity great price

As always the food here is outstanding! My disappointment stems from new ownership deciding to charge a 3.5% surcharge to use a credit/debit card regardless of the amount. After 22 years of this being our go to spot, I am rethinking my loyalty.

We got our usual, General Tso's chicken with Fried rice, an egg roll and won ton soup. It is probably the best I have ever had!

General Jou's chicken is absolutely delicious!

This place was horrible. First off my chicken was rotten. at first I thought it wasn't and I just thought it tasted off. so I thought I'd eat the rice and give the steamed chicken to my dog. Then I had my friend try another piece and she agreed it tasted bad. while I moved my chicken around on the plate I saw what appeared to be a giant bug's leg. despite being completely disgusted I politely & quietly told the waitress. she took my plate to the back then came back and told me it wasn't a bug leg (which ironically I never even said I thought it was a bug leg.) she also told me next time so the chicken doesn't taste bad that she suggests that i order it with the sauce on it. which is really gross! how about just don't serve spoiled meat?! So it came time to pay, the woman thanked me for coming and I ask if I was going to be charged for the meal or not because I still had the check she had brought out when our food came. She immediately went to the register and said she will give me 10 percent off. I said that's unacceptable so she yelled and made a big scene telling me I ate some of it and she had checked on me at first and I didn't tell her. I told her I tried to choke down some of the rice and veggies and thought that I could just give the meat to my dog however in realizing it was spoiled and had some other gross thing in it I decided it wasn't even fit for my dog and that I would pay for the rice and tea I had. she refused and said I had to pay half. I payed the bill and left I can't believe how they treated someone over a $12 meal that wasn't fit for a dog to even eat. DON'T GO THERE!!!
