Italian Gelato

Simply the best food anywhere. Their breakfast sandwich comes on their fresh homemade bread and every part of the sandwich is amazing! Fresh tomatoes and Genoa salami. Their rum cake has a texture like no other cake I've ever had. They are family owned and so welcoming and friendly, happy to explain the menu to you etc. Good outdoor seating as well. I went 45 minutes out of my way to eat here and did not regret it.

This place is our favorite! Family owned business with quality food and very friendly service.Pastries; the pastries are the best - literally get anything, you won’t be disappointed. Nutella croissants and cannolis are my jam though.Gelato; get some uniquely flavored gelato on a warm day.Pizza; very affordable pizza slices with big portions! Delish.Bread; take some fresh bread to-go and toast it in your oven for dinner.Atmosphere; Eat inside for an authentic Italian experience. Take your food outside and enjoy the sidewalk views of Green St.

It’s a very small but cute shop. I like the outdoor seating area and interior design, but it’s hard to walk inside because it’s cluttered with tables and chairs. I ordered a ravioli dish and the serving size was really small, so I was not fully satisfied. I’ll have to go again if I want to get a better scope of their food.

If I could give 100 stars I would.Seen the sign and just had to stop in. The lady that waited on me was very kind and patient. Cause I'm sure i reflected never being there before. They have tables to sit inside or outside whichever you prefer. I bought a loaf of bread, pizza, a few cookies. There's better then homemade Italian bread . Amazing. This place will definitely be somewhere I will stop again. If you're looking for a place that has authentic Italian bread and pastries and I'm sure so many other amazing things. This is the place to check out. Most definitely!

Ate here for the first time today & will definitely be back. Ravioli & chicken parm was delish! We also got a spinach & feta pastry which was gone before we could take a picture. Authentic italian food, made us wish we were back in Italy!

Found an Italian bakery in the heart of uptown Harrisburg! Only $2 for an Italian loaf. Has indoor and outdoor seating. Open until 6 pm for getting goodies after work. Only downside: Street parking only! Had to park several blocks away and walk up.

We dined at Alvaro recently. We have dined there before for lunch and dinner and the food is generally very good. Last evening was an exception. My wife ordered the Pasta a Ragu which was good. I ordered the Cioppino which was disappointing. Cioppino is fish stew. I have order it often at other places when I find it on a menu. As a stew I expect many variations. Their version of Cioppino is not a stew, instead it is a bowl of (likely) steamed mussels, prawns and clams with a very small amount of liquid hidden underneath. Also, 2 ingredients listed on the menu , scallops and squid, were not included. The portion was good and if this was listed as steamed mussels, clams and prawns it would hit the mark. But if your expecting Cioppino, you will likely be disappointed.

Amazing bread and desserts

Best breakfast sandwich I’ve ever had. Rainbow cookies are delicious. Their lunch and dinners compete with the best Italian places I’ve eaten at in NYC and NJ. Authentic, delicious, best place to eat in Harrisburg without exaggeration.

Order anything on the menu…you won’t be disappointed. Tonight I had the Marsala gelato for dessert …unbelievably delicious!!!
