Great hometown feel in this place. Friendly staff, good food and plenty of it! Whew, need a wheelbarrow to get me out of here! The Hot Wiener Special with one of each and everything on it shown in the pic. Good luck!
This place was kinda strange. I guess as a outsider we didn't really get "it". Everything is served on a bun. The hot dog had almost leather skin on it. It was good just not what we expected. Staff was friendly. It was on the expensive side for hotdogs, burgers and fries. The fries portions are huge so keep that in mind when ordering. We didn't know and hard a ton fries.
Loved it fast, different and delicious. Always love my visits to a locals favorite.
I’m am from out of town and this was my first time in. I have to tell you when you first walk-in, you do get that small town vibe. Our server was really nice, even with the larger group we had. Everything started out good until the food came out. My wife ordered the special, double burger and fries. She ordered it with no buns and chili on the side. Well, the plate came with chili on the plate and no onions. When I got mine, all I could see was French fries. Couldn’t tell you that there was anything else on the plate. They need to be consistent with how much fries everyone gets. When I finally got to my burger and hotdog, there was hardly any chili on them. Plus they forgot the onions. The burger was dry, the chili had no flavor, and the hotdog had no punch to it. But even with how awesome our server was at the beginning, she disappeared. I would have ordered more but we found out that she was doing drive-thru. Don’t think I’ll return.
I cant say enough great things about this place!!! It has not changed from when I was a kid to now food is great and the people are great. Youhave to stop in if you are in the area.
Famous Hot Weiner is always the best ! I like the hamburger with the chili and light onions. We go often, love it !
Finally tried here after moving here from Texas.Native Chicagoan before TexasSorry not impressed,Onions were nastyThey said it was chili on the hot dog, but if that's what they consider chili that's sad. It had no flavor and was just nasty.Someone needs to teach them what cheese means on a chili dog.Fries were basic, Arby's crinkle frees much betterJust don't see what the big deal was about them
I am rating this strictly for take out Only! Do Not Do Not order take out. This was the third time what I'm about to tell you this has happened. I drove to restaurant and called order I. Was told it would be 10 minutes. I waited exactly 10 minutes and went to drive up window and got the food. I ordered the hamburger and hotdog and fry special. As it turns s out it wasn't so special. The hamburger and hotdog sandwich was cold and the fries ? for the Third time in a row THE FRIES WERE SOGGY !!.....yuck. The first time I called and complained and not even an acknowledgment was given. The second time I order the fries ? well done and they were Soggy. I took them back and had them make it right without an apology given. After the third time I decided to write this review. I started going here in 1978 where I met the boys mom. So I take this review seriously. Like I said at the beginning of review this rating is for Take Out Only. My rating for inside dining will be the opposite of this. Bottom line I would suggest going inside of possible to eat and Do Not order to go or drive thru. I believe it's the way they are packaged that makes everything Soggy and cold so quick. I don't know but they have a problem. Thanks ? for reading this review. I opened up the food as soon as I received it and found it to be in beforehand mentioned condition. Not using drive thru ever again.
I'm from this area but have moved away. Me and a couple relatives come back several times a year. We make it a point to go and have hot dogs. I went there on Friday. They have ruined their hot dogs. They changed the onions they use. The onion was as important as any other part of the hot dog. I told them about it on Friday. I went back on Monday with another group of friends and they noticed it also. They again ruined a good thing. They got cheap a couple years ago by changing the hot dog they used. They lost 50% of their business. They charge $10.00 for two dogs and fries. We have expectations. Unfortunately ,I can't go there again until they change back. Service is always great.
