I've always enjoyed Hoss's the many, many times I've been there. But the last visit may have been my last ever. It was one of the least busy days I've seen there. It all started by ordering a RARE steak with A1 steak sauce baked potato butter and sour cream. After going through salad bar sitting down to the first bite of salad, I unfortunately got a long dark Hair in my mouth, (I have short gray hair, could have came from a customer using the salad bar, not holding this against the restaurant). But after removing hair by spitting out mouthful of un- chewed salad onto napkin and not being able to eat anymore of my salad. Server never questioned or asked if I even needed another napkin. Server was not attentive, never even asked if steak/meal was prepared ok. (which it wasn't) a RARE temperature ordered steak was more WELL DONE almost burnt with a red RARE tag in the most burt part of the steak. No A1 and no sour cream But server didn't check and I ate it anyway, only because I would never send food back to kitchen. Especially if it was much over done. Empty iced tea drink glasses since meal was delivered.(meals delivered not by server, I asked for refill at that time A1 and sour cream but I was told that my server would be right over to ask her.) The server had 2 other tables besides ours and they were not being attended to either. After a few minutes I got up from the table to ask another server to ask our server to please bring our table 2 iced tea refills. After about a minute or two our server came to the table ( no refills) to ask if everything was "still ok" ?? She never came to ask if it was ok in the first place. I asked for 2 refills of ice tea, A1 and sour cream. After a few more minutes maybe 2 or 3, our server did bring 2 refills, sour cream but no A1. Server never cleared finished soup bowls, salad plates, and finished meal plates even while we had our dessert. I left the server a tip. I always do. Even though this server did not deserve it. Service always has been fine in the past. Overdone steak and bad service made this the worst dining experience from Hoss's for me.
Everything but the ribeye was great. It seemed the ribeye was less than choice grade. The coffee rub was weak at best, I barely tasted it.The steaks need improvement in my opinion.
Love going here for the Soup and Salad Bar!! They have a huge selection in Soups, Many Vegetables to choose from for putting on Salad!!! Love and highly suggest!! This isn't including Food items off the Menu!!
Its a typical Hoss's. The salad bar was good and wel stocked. They were a little short on staff, but these days thats almost to be expected everywhere, so I can't knock them for that.
Server was super kind and generous, especially during this "employee pandemic." She was promt with drinks and entrees. Salad bar was fresh and clean. Compared to other Hoss's, the salad & soup bar was HUGE! All in all, it was really good food!
Generally this a great place to eat with a great salad bar. The only thing is I was recently disappointed because usually they have fresh baked breads and their cinnamon bread was not. It was also cold and not even toasted
Not sure if its covid related or supply chain related but Hoss' quality of their food, particularly the steaks has dramatically declined. T bone was tough and chewy and full of gristle. Salad bat was fresh and well stocked. As was bread bar and dessert bar. Servers were really great and hustled from table to table.
Even further from what Hoss's once was in the 80' through 00's. Gave a chance again and was disappointed again. Soup and chili were bland, croutons on salad bar were rock hard, steaks were cooked medium well inside but were dry outside. Staff was excellent, give them 5 stars, food 3 stars; thus a 4 star review.
Best Hoss's I've ever been to. The place was so unique and the waiters were very friendly.
Me and my dad had a nice lunch here today. The place looks cool and we both had excellent chicken sandwiches and the salad bar had a lot of options as well as dessert and nachos. Good time.
