Stopped in at the store. It's a wonder that they get anything done, it's so small, but the results they have are spectacular. I tried a turnover (sweet) and hand pie (savory). Both outstanding . Best bet is to order in advance. They do a big business at the Open Air Market on Saturdays.
Pies, tarts, quiche, soup —- it’s all delicious and fresh.
Amazingly yummy and creative pies, tarts, and savory treats. Keep an eye out for menu changes. Beware, this tiny shop doesn’t have seating and it’s best to place an order online first.
I have lived around the corner from this hidden gem and only just found it. The owners do all the cooking and the pies and pastries are perfect. Looking forward to going back to try their coffee, but this place is doing everything right and deserves more people to know about it.
Stumbled upon this hidden gem in Easton; the owners do all the cooking and serving, the pies and pastries are absolutely perfect, and they deserve more people to know that they exist because wow, 10/10.
Definitely a big surprise! I came from LA to visit my girlfriend in Easton and tbh Pie+Tart is better than every bakery store I tried in LA. The filling is not too sweet and every flavor is worth trying (though we just chose two yesterday after lunch.) I saw a gentleman with Pie + Tart bag and waited for his pie. After my first bite, I can totally understand why he bought the bag wit him!
To quote the great Paula Dean, “I don’t want to spend my life not having good food going into my pie hole. That hole was made for pies.”... And this this delightful little nook in downtown Easton sure does fill it right, both literally in terms of pies and as accurately in terms of physical space.Also.... Secret Pie Society, yes please.
I love this place. I’m so happy they’ve expanded their hours so we could try it. Their quiche with the garlic and cauliflower was seriously ridiculous. My husband had the chickpea pastry and that was very good as well. We both had pasteis de nata and they were SO creamy. Oh my god. I tend to get really intense and almost angry when I’m eating good food and I was angry the whole time. Also the americano was excellent. 10/10 will be back.
Incredible pies, both savory and sweet, from the tiniest little shop known as the Pie Hole! Order online between Saturday night and Thursday, pickup Thursday through Saturday. Must try the Beef Bourginion, the Chicken Pot, the Quiche Lorraine, also the Brown Butter Pecan and the Bakewell tart. Actually try EVERYTHING!
TL:DR - You will not regret the Secret Pie Society - Magnificent!!To be clear a rarely write reviews, but felt the desire to share this hidden gem with y'all...Specifically, though not exclusively, this review is about the Secret Pie Society from Pie +Tart, one of the BEST subscriptions I have participated in over the last year.Lisa and Anne are creative and thoughtful in their selections of recipes. Taking from history and from their own catalog of pies, both sweet and savory. Each month I raced to their delightful Easton store, even during the lockdown, yes there were some adjustments needed, to pick up the mysterious treat. If it is any indicator of my love of these splendid creations, is that we moved to Gettysburg this year and I still find a way to collect the scrumptious creations every month. The SPS is a great gift, as I found out for Christmas 2020. It was the catalyst for me to continue for an additional 12 months. I wanted, nay NEEDED, more of their concoctions.Has every pie been a favorite of mine? Well of course not, don't be silly....though to be clear EVERY pie was fully consumed, we've a variety of palettes in our family. Regardless of individual tastes, every pie has been masterfully crafted, with great detail given to the balance of flavors, textures and presentation.I feel I must add one exemplary examples of the SPS...Grape PieThey ONLY make this one for SPS, as it is shockingly labor intensive, but was one of the standouts of this year. I would have a photo, but some how it just seemed to vanish, not unlike a Drop Bear, before any shots could be taken. What has been the most enjoyable, okay SECOND most enjoyable, has been the story behind the pies. Every month Lisa and Anne include an explanation of the origins of the pie. I know nothing of pastry origins so having these stories added to the enjoyment.I have prattled on for much longer than originally expected. In short, the SPS is THE subscription. Not only do you get incredibly delicious, lovingly crafted pastry, you support a great business owned and operated by two women who make the time to add to, what I can only assume, their busy pastry pursuit, small batch creations for a select few.Be one of those few.The photo is of their savory Vidalia Tart, it barely made it out of the box.
