What a great value from a fantastic restaurant! The whole family of 4 gets a healthy meal and salad bar for less than $50 with sodas included. The price is low enough that it doesn't make me feel like I have to overeat to get a good value. Which is fantastic! The fries were excellent, great selection of soups and good quality fresh toppings for my salad.Great food at a good value is not easy to find nowadays. We went to a different restaurant last weekend and it was the complete opposite of this experience. Thank you Hoss's for being such an awesome place to take my family where we can rely on you to take good care of us with friendly service. You never disappoint!
A coworker of mine invited me to lunch and she chose to dine here. I was already curious about this restaurant because I am a steak and seafood fan so this gave me a great opportunity to try them out. I ordered a fried shrimp plate with a baked potato. The food was average and I declined their salad bar because in my opinion there was nothing appealing to choose from. My coworker has a physical disability that requires her to have a caregiver with her at all times. Her caregiver and I both felt as though she was discriminated against due to her race. The waitress that we had that day failed to acknowledge her presence by neglecting to remove her finished or empty plates from our table. It was very obvious because she was more attentive to me than she was to the other 2 ladies I was seated with. I ordered my beverage before they had arrived. Instead of returning with my drink the waitress chose to have a conversation with what appeared to be a co-worker about 6 ft behind me for about 3 minutes. She did this with MY DRINK in her hand. I assume their conversation was more important than taking care of her table. When we were finished with our lunch and received our checks I paid with my husband's debit card. Unfortunately his card was damaged it would not scan properly and caused it to come up as declined on their computer system. Of course it wasn't her fault that this card was damaged. This waitress returned to my table and spoke loudly enough for the guests at the table next to us to over hear every word she spoke to me with a condescending attitude that my card was declined. And might I add I used this card at Walmart before the lunch date and at Sheetz to get gas after the lunch date. So there was no way possible that the card could possibly have been declined. It wasn't entirely a big deal because I had another card to cover my lunch so that wasn't the issue. The issue was this waitress had the audacity to speak so loudly to me about something that could have very well been embarrassing or disturbing to the average person. If I didn't have the money to cover my food I might have been uncomfortable but I'm blessed enough in life to not have to stress such. But she didn't know that and it wasn't her care or concern. She only wanted to broadcast and attempt to embarrass and belittle me. I am thankful that I am inclined to overlook such ignorant actions displayed by the younger generation of this day.My other two table guests excused themselves to the restroom before we departed from the restaurant and as I quietly and politely waited on their return the gentleman at the next table commented on how he felt the waitress was extremely rude on how she handled the card situation. His his and his wife's comments on this confirmed the fact that I was right about her very poor customer service.I was curious about this restaurant but I'm not anymore. If anyone has a taste for seafood and a good steak I highly recommend you go to the Red Lobster or maybe even Applebee's. I would go to McDonald's and eat a hamburger before I would return to this place.
Used to swing by here for lunch with a coworker. Nothing fancy, just nearby and fast. Always just get the soup and salad bar. I think 2 people should be able to eat some soup and salad for under $20. It's lunch right? Went in there this week and had the normal bland soup and salad. Was brought the check and it was $30. Wow, never again.
Quality of food has slowly gotten worse but the staff is always friendly
My server was very nice and very busy. My rib eye was cooked and seasoned as I requested. My sides however... My ceaser had no parm cheese and the dressing was low end. My French onion soup was not good. The onions were simply boiled in the beef broth and were cut in very large slices. Since the onions were not sautéed and rendered the taste was beef broth from a box. The cheese topping and croutons came in a side dish rather than added to the soup. Sorry folks but that soup was not good. The restaurant was very clean and the salad bar appeared to be well liked.
Sorry to say our visit was just mediocre. Thought it was expensive for just an ok meal. Tried to Salisbury steak special. Salty. Chicken was just ok. Salad bar was what you would expect. Missed hot bacon dressing option.
I used to work for Hoss's many years ago when I was going to college. They are an East coast chain restaurant located primarily in Pennsylvania. The menu and process has changed a lot since I last worked for them but the primary thing that remains is the large salad, soup and dessert bar. We decided to check this place out about 5pm on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. The place was much less busy than I remember for a Saturday. We wondered if that was because of Thanksgiving or they just were not as busy anymore. You used to have to place your order at a menu board when you walk in similar to some other chain steak restaurants. Now, they seat you at a table and you are provided menus. We were seated, provided menus and had a drink order taken. We both decided to get up to check out the salad bar which was about the same as I remember. You can make a full meal out of just eating from the salad bar. My wife wanted a steak and ordered the Little Hoss with broccoli and the salad bar. I ordered just the salad bar. We proceeded to the salad bar to create our salads. I also grabbed some chicken noodle soup and garlic bread. My wife's steak arrived shortly after we got back. My wife thought the steak was on the saltier side but enjoyed it. Our server Lexi was appropriately attentive and the food hit the spot. I am thankful to have been able to work there while attending college.
Food was very good, it looked appetizing. Service was excellent.
Great place to get a steak. Reasonable prices and friendly service.
Hoss’s is family favorite on our road trips from PA to West Virginia! Their salad bar is legendary and a can’t miss! You can also order entrees (steak tip is our favorite) along with the salad bar. I personally can fill up on the full service salad bar (from soup to ice cream!) itself.
