Had ham subs, new england style. Not much ham. They changed their ham. Not good at all. High price, poor quality. Have been enjoying Georges for 40+ years. Not anymore.
Growing up in Carlisle, George's was a childhood favorite. On a trip in the area we stopped in for a taste of my childhood. We were not disappointed! My wife loved the pizza and my sub brought back a flood of memories. Glad that the family continues that great taste!
12 bucks for the saddest looking hoagie I've ever seen. I could spend less at a local gas station that makes food and get more on it. I don't like leaving low reviews, but this was definitely necessary. This was a first and last order for me.
We just moved to Carlisle boro and received a menu in the mail advertising "WE DELIVER!" We called at 7:45 on a Saturday night to order some pizza and Stromboli. We were quickly told that they DO NOT actually deliver.... So we said we'd come pick it up. We were then informed that they don't make any pizzas or Strombolis after 8pm.....First, it was 7:45.Second, why would you stop making your main menu items a hour before you close????Makes zero sense to me. I get that times have been tough for eateries, maybe they're under staffed? But don't send advertisements out saying you deliver when you don't. And don't turn away business over a hour before you close! If we had called at 8:50 I could understand. But sheesh, it's a Saturday night in a college town. Shutting down your kitchen at 7:45 makes no sense. We threw the menu away and went to Miseno.
A local Carlisle deli institution. Excellent subs, adequate pizza. Must try the Original New England Regular sub on the homemade roll. Add some of the hot pepper relish if you need it a little more hot and sloppy.
Place was very neat and clean, the staff was friendly and helpful. The fries were about the best I have ever had. Crispy on outside and tasty. Also not too salty. The cheesesteaks were loaded nicely, and the bread delicious. The pizza was good. My only quibble is I wish they had some pasta. Could they keep a pan of lasagna or some baked ziti around?
Food use to be decent… but now they have changed things up. Very disappointed that they changed the sub rolls. Place always looks dirty when you go in. Needs updated
George's has been a Carlisle staple for many years with many loyal customers. For me it's a restaurant of 2 eras. The food was spectacular when the restaurant was ran by the father George. Great atmosphere. Friendly staff. Good prices and portions.I'm not saying the son's who run it now aren't great in their own right but it's not the same as back then. Food is good but not as good. I don't frequent nearly as much but it is still a good choice for subs and burgers. Pretty good food. Atmosphere is nice but as I stated I don't frequent much as before. They do have delivery and pick up which is great for the times we live in presently.
We were in Carlisle staying at the Comfort Suites, and we ordered Stromboli, & pizza! It was all amazing & they even made sure we had extra plates & forks for dinner in the hotel. They brought it right to our door. We appreciate all of this so much as we are truckers & had had a long stressful week of snowy travel & we were exhausted. We will return! Thank you ?
Food is very good for sub shop ..have been going there for 50 years ....PRICE INCREASES ARE CRAZY!!!!$13 FOR A SUB ? $19 FOR WHAT USED TO BE A SMALL STROMBOLI!! BYE BYE GEORGE'S
