I would give this place 0 stars owner yelled at me on my birthday when I wanted a refund and pointed out that 50$ worth of food was warm! The inside of my rice wasn’t even warm at all just the outside and a tiny bit I even showed him! Sushi looked disappointing I didn’t want to even touch it and risk loosing my refund! Oh even the crab meat wanting tasted stale and the inside once again not even warm!
Nice large restaurant wasn’t crowded on a Thursday night. The general Tso’s chicken was goo with a generous serving of chicken, but even with $2 of extra broccoli there did not seem to be much broccoli and the broccoli was cold. People also had Thai and sushi. The Chinese food was the winner among the table. It’s a nice stop in Carlisle with parking.
Huge selection with options including Thai, Chinese, and Japanese cuisine. Got a sushi roll and Chinese entree for myself and my wife ordered a Japanese entree. All the food was good and plated attractively. Would definitely go again.
We’ve only done takeout but it has always been amazing! I don’t know why I didn’t try this place sooner. Absolutely became my favorite Chinese takeout place after the very first try. The scallion pancakes are my favorite, but everything was great. Their vegetable fried rice is filled with amazing veggies (large pieces of broccoli, onions, zucchini, carrots, mushrooms). Now that we found them, we’ve been ordering at least once a week!
The Miso Soup was great! The sushi was freshly made and had good portion sizes; you can see it being made when you order it. I would highly recommend the Rainbow Roll (even as someone that doesn't like cucumber) and the Ell Roll! The pork dumpling appetizer had a lot of flavor on the inside, but the outside was soggy. The entrees were terrible. They had no flavor, the rice was mushy, and the plates were full of rice and had barely any of the other stuff it was supposed to have.
LOVE their sugar donuts. The broccoli with garlic sauce and fried rice was a little whack. Needed more flavor and seasoning.
Second time trying Chen’s. First time was four years ago when I ordered Beef Pad Thai, worst Pad Thai I had in my life.Tried again after years since I wasn’t getting Chinese, their main cuisine and I figured it’s been years, my experience was probably a fluke.I ordered Orange Chicken and Pineapple Fried rice (I know Thai again..)The quality of the chicken was surprisingly good and well cooked, it had a weird breading that got mushy and literally had no flavor, none - I legitimately got worried I was sick with no sense of taste. Pineapple fried rice looked like white rice that got splashed with tomato juice, after three bites I got a small taste of pineapple; the cashews were good.Would not recommend this place, it’s a shame as it’s close to downtown and a beautiful facility.
Love the atmosphere at Chen's. Always deliciously, properly prepared meals. Staff is always sweet & diligent. Best way to start off Lunar New Year of the Water Tiger.
This place is awesome, the food was great and the wait staff was super friendly and attentive. We will be back for sure.Had the scallion pancakes, beef with onions and housing sauce, and teriyaki chicken. Everything was delicious.
I would rate this restaurant 3/5 if I am rating based on overall food offerings. I am always leary to order Sushi from a Chinese focused restaurant and I can confirm the sushi here is below average. I would rate the sushi here a 2/5. It just did not taste fresh. Do not get it. I have had a fair amount of Sushi and this ranks low. Its just not fresh enough. I did also order a Chicken and Broccoli dish and it did taste good. But it did have a little too much added corn starch then what I am use too, especially for an "elevated Asian restaurant". I might say that the Asian Cafe over by Target in Carlisle is a better option if you are looking for Chinese takeout that is inexpensive and tasty. The dinning room though at Chen's is nice if you are looking for that type of atmosphere in Carlisle and looking to dine out with a large party to try different menu offerings, then this is a decent spot. Just stay away from the Sushi. Service was 5/5. Prices were fair. I ordered three items and the bill was only $22 which is not terrible and I did receive a generous portion of chicken with my order. I wish they had Dim Sum offerings over Sushi. I think it would be a big hit for the area.
