5 stars for a restaurant is nearly impossible for me. This place deserves it! My go-to place for Birthdays, etc. Service is great, food is authentic and the owner is warm and personable. Fresh herbs and on demand creation in every meal.
The adult temper tantrum in the previous review should in no way deter you from visiting this local gem. Please visit this place as soon and as often as possible. My husband and I cannot get enough, even the harshest critics in my circle have been won over; it is truly my happy place. My favorites (in no particular order) are: Polipo, their Bucatini dish I can never pronounce, the steak (worth the $50 bucks I might add), and the crown jewel Pappardelle con Fungi. I found out recently that they import their pasta from the oldest pasta factory in Italy! The service, even at the busiest times, never fails to be flawless & a lovely conversation and it's BYOB, what's not to love about that!? @Travel-brilliant - Comparing restaurants nullifies any sort of constructive feedback so I implore you to do better in future when commenting on a dining experience, tsk tsk!
wife is Gluten free, not by choice. We called and made reservations 3 weeks ago and spoke to the owner/chef and made reservations. We told him she was gluten-free and he said he would provide options for her, as he has done in the past. When we arrived, we asked our server what the gluten-free options were. She said she saw the note on the reservations but there wasn’t any gluten-free pasta available. My wife’s only choices were a $40 steak, or some salads. I wish they would’ve called us and said they didn’t have anything available for her because we would’ve went to Nonna Sulina’s’s with the food is much better and they have several gluten-free options. Seriously, how hard is it to keep a three dollar box of pasta on a shelf? We would have gladly paid extra for it, as we have done in the past at this establishment. It was very upsetting to see everyone else eating pasta while my wife couldn’t have any. You completely ruined her night and our dinner.
My husband and I had the best meal in the Lehigh Valley at Tre Scalini. Everything from the pasta to the desserts were fresh, high quality and delicious. We’ve had steak at some of the more popular places (OAK and Top Cut) and Tre Scalini’s rib eye blew those steaks out of the water. It might just be our new go to restaurant for special occasions!
I have a home in Bethelehem and Brooklyn N.Y. I have eaten all over the world from street food in Vietnam to Taillevent in Paris. There is a lot of good food in Bethlehem. Tre Scalini is un to itself. Excellent Italian food but not red sauce centric. The owner chef is always in the tiny kitchen. Fresh, hand-made past dishes at the highest level. Great fish of the day and as odd as it might seem a really good rib eye. Quiet, elegant surroundings to support meaningful conversations and maybe even fall in love. Very adult…
The food is good but the prices are high for what you get and they ran out of several menu items early this evening. The service is very slow. They need more help and they failed to bring our leftovers to the table in a timely fashion. Get more help and more food before we return
Why have I not noticed this great Italian restaurant before? Hidden gem!! As authintic as I've had in this area. For the last 20 years, I've traveled frequently to Italy for business and love proper Italian food. Service was fantastic (Gianna?). Easy parking in the back. Everything was great and will return. To those that complain (low ratings) about no waiting area and waiting for your table due to people taking longer to dine? Be patient and either wait outside or in your car. This is a quaint little restaurant. If you want a larger space and a waiting area, go to the Olive Garden. Love Tre Scalini!
We had a reservation for 7pm. We got there a few minutes prior and they told us to wait in what was basically a coat closet right next to the bathrooms. We were just about to leave when they finally sat us at 7:30. Our food wasn’t served until 8:35. Why even make a reservation at that point? The only redeeming factor is that the sauce the mussels were in was one of the best things I’ve ever tried in my life. I would 100% never go back to dine in-person but I might order takeout sometime (hours in advance.)
We had the best time at Tre Scalini! The place is a great, intimate setting. And because of that, they unfortunately couldn’t seat us until later than our reservation. But the staff went above and beyond to make up for it, including staying open so much later than closing so we could enjoy ourselves. Oh and the food was PHENOMENAL. Couldn’t recommend it more.
I have lived for ten years a few doors down and I apologize that I never ate at your establishment before. Your food is wonderful! It is rich but not thick authentic Italian cuisine I urge the Lehigh valley to come! Your food is amazing!!!
