This was a nice, relaxing, easy feeling establishment. We stopped in for a beer and some shade after walking all over Bethlehem. The waiter was FANTASTIC! (I wish I remembered his name- but he had shorter dark curly-ish hair) He offered a test of any beer on tap... And in the end we wanted the Strawberry Cider and the classic Black and Tan. Say outside - under a nice umbrella, out of the sun with a nice breeze. Perfect 2pm grab a beer and chill spot.
Good drink & beer selection. Authentic Irish\highlands menu, albeit not a very broad menu. Food was good, nice portions.Maybe an additional chicken chicken entrée, i.e. Bacon (rasher) wrapped chicken. Or Guinness. Steak Pie. Irish Beef Stew.
Looking for an Irish Pub right in downtown Bethlehem?! Here it is!My family and I love McCarthy’s and it’s always our go to place. The food is great and the vibe inside and outside on the patio is wonderful as well.Giving 3/5 stars because of the service we’ve experienced these last few months. Not sure if staff or management changed but we’ve had a few situations with some grumpy employees not being super kind.Regardless of this, we still love it & thoroughly enjoy any time we visit!
Upon arrival we were greeted by multiple employees and immediately felt at home. Inside, the restaurant was decorated from floor to ceiling while maintaining an old fashioned pub feel. Intricate wood carvings lined each of the booths ahead of us which had DOORS ON THEM! What an interesting design. We opted to sit outside as it was a beautiful day. Despite only 1 outdoor table becoming newly available the staff jumped on preparing it for us. Meanwhile, we were asked by each and every employee that passed us if we were being helped or if we needed anything. Incredibly friendly. As we sat down we were greeted with a mix of Irish and Celtic inspired favorites from the likes of Flogging Molly, Dropkick Murphys and more. The menu had everything you'd imagine an Irish joint would and more. Lots of old fashioned dishes as well as some modern takes. We started off with a few drinks. The strawberry mojito was lacking, however, we are difficult to impress when it comes to cocktails. My "Blacksmith" mix of Guiness and Smithwicks hit the spot on a sunny day. Our waiter was friendly, helpful and on point. We each ordered a cup of soup. Both the potato and leek soup as well as the creamy chicken and mushroom were excellent. That was followed by an order of fries covered in cheese fondue and garlic butter sauce. Although all of the food was great they were truly the star. The perfect sidekick to a cold pint. The Mrs. ordered beef on a weck as her main. Bangers and mash were my weapon of choice. All of the meat was well seasoned and cooked perfectly. The Kummelweck roll was like a little fluffy cloud to nestle the roast beef on. To top all of it off their onion stout gravy. Wow. The bill was surprisingly reasonable as compared to other eateries in the area and well worth the price. We can not wait to return and see what kind of magic lies behind the stag booth doors as well as to grab some of their fresh baked goods which we forgot all about due to being full to the brim with potatoes and stout.
Old post but went here when things were just starting to open back up after Covid. Good way to decompress after touring Old Moravia.
Service was excellent. Tremendous whiskey selection. Had to b a couple hundred selections to choose from. Food was as authentic Irish as u can get .Without going to the emerald island itself. I'm sure you'll like it. Oh the French fries are incredible. And the fish and chips top notch.
The best Irish pub in the Lehigh Valley. Great food, spirits, and atmosphere. Friendly staff and hard working chef make every meal an experience. The store offers a lot of great products from Ireland and the UK. The pub hosts a Robbie Burns dinner, monthly cooking classes, Whiskey Wednesdays, and other great special events throughout the year.Traditional Irish favorites like Bangers & Mash, Cottage Pie, boxty, and more are prepared with a modern twist. Lots of great beer, cocktails, and of course whiskeys. One visit and it will become a new favorite.
The Red Stag will transport you - from the cozy feeling of the bar/restaurant to the delightful food and tea selections; there’s something for everyone!
It's ok. Ordered my burger medium rare, it was well done. Kinda charred on the outside, tasted charred. When you order medium rare it shouldn't be charred! The fries with fondue were good, very crispy. Hubby liked the wild boar burger. He ordered his well, and it was pink! But it was juicy and flavorful. The homemade Irish Cream was by far the best! That was amazing. Staff was nice enough.
Traditional Irish fare in a cozy setting what more can one ask for. I really liked their Irish breakfast and the nicely poured pint of Guinness.
