The food here is amazing. It is all made from scratch with delicious, fresh ingredients. The owner is Ukrainian and it’s apparent that she loves what she does - taking care of people by feeding them incredible meals. I highly recommend it!

If you are looking for a real home cooked meal, go to the Black Forest Deli. This neighborhood eatery is owned and operated by Ukrainian immigrants. The menu reflects many of the traditional meals of their homeland. On the 3rd Saturday of the month they have a 5 course brunch (no reservation required). Where you do need a reservation is for the 5 course Kiev dinner. Seating is very limited so reserve ASAP. On my visit I counted 8 varieties of pierogi. The service is pleasant, the meals are filling and the prices are reasonable for home cooking. Can't wait to go back.

Trust me you have nothing to lose

Delicious food reminds you of childhood food. Service is excellent, everything is made by hand, not heated up and served which I loved. I would absolutely recommend black forest Deli to anyone and everyone. And the price is perfect.

Quite harried experience running errands on Good Friday and took an hour to stop by hoping to dine in. We managed to sit inside and order a few dishes with what was available among all their Easter Bread and catering orders. The ladies were conducting business: cooking, waiting on diners and cleaning tables.A plate of chicken schnitzel with buttery mashed potatoes and one plate of buttered noodles topped with chunks of chicken (paprikas) with a plate of garlic buttered rye plus a side dish of homemade potato salad and side of chopped beets. We ordered a quart of homemade chicken noodle soup to go. Everything was delicious and true to the Russian- Ukraine cuisine.

we were running errands Black Friday, we had to take a break and stop by for an early lunch. Right on the corner with the big overhead sign, brick facade and unassuming interior decorated to cook not to impress the public. The place doesn’t have much ambiance but all I had to do was look behind the counter and notice a large working table filled with homemade specialty foods and three busy woman scurrying and weaving about the space, taking calls, preparing entrees and cleaning up after diners. I asked for a menu and the owner mentioned many things were sold out and just ask her for something to check availability. I rattled off schnitzel, chicken noodle soup, chicken paprikas, halupki, anything HOT! And then we sat at this lovely pastel plaid covered table and started to chat with family at adjacent table. (Landon and Maddi!) As they were eating and chatting and offering comments on certain dishes. We weren’t expecting much and finally the dishes were presented en masse. Chicken schnitzel with the butteriest mashed potatoes EVER. An accompanying plate of garlic buttered rye, a side of potato salad with another side of beet salad. All homemade and yummy! My hubs ordered chicken paprikas of buttered egg noodles topped with chunks of chicken. He loved every bite, especially the remaining red sauce laying at the bottom of the plate. One quart of freshly made chicken noodle soup to go and we were delighted to sit and partake in such a delicious lunch.

Google maps said it would be open at 8am. Walked here this morning, doesn't open until 9am. Please change your online hours to reflect actual hours. Ty

Lovely authentic Slavic food! Owner was so nice and sweet! Спасибо ❤️

I was super stoked to try this place. Was slightly disappointed when we were given cold chicken noodle soup (why, though?) Everything else was really good, I just don't appreciate being given cold soup. I had the veggie lovers special sandwich. It was great! I'd definitely go back and would recommend to anyone who loves soups and sandwiches.
