The hot dogs are the best!
The Texas hot dog a.k.a. chili dog, gives my 24 year favorite; skyline chili, a run for top spot or it’s a close 2nd. Layers of flavor well balanced, nothing overly powerful and the chili sauce has me wanting more. I usually don’t give reviews, except for right now because I’m a big fan.
Walked in and waiting at the counter for 10minutes no one came out to get our order. Meanwhile all the employees were in the back just sitting there. Thanks for your poor customer service!
I was in Altoona for the night this weekend, had checked into a motel, and was looking for a quick and easy dinner...that wasn't a typical 'same old fast food' place. Found Texas Hot Dogs on Google maps, and decided to check it out.I'm glad I did; the staff was friendly and efficient...I placed my (carryout) order (1 hot dog with everything, 1 burger with everything, an order of hot pepper cheese balls, and the Texas style mac & cheese), and it was up and ready in about 4 minutes.The food was hot and delicious, well worth the price (about $12) and filled me up. I highly recommend Texas Hot Dogs, and will definitely be back the next time I find myself in the area!
It is hot dogs....they are good. The dogs with chilli and are good. But recently I had cheese dogs here. Food is good. Not sure if it's quite what I remember in the past. But this place is popular and price is good (about $2 a dog or so depending on toppings).

5 stars all the way around the board!! Im lucky enough to say I was raised on 58th street and had the honor of eating here all the time since I was a youngster and the taste has never changed!!.. I even moved to Georgia for years and came back to the exact same Amazing taste! And thats in anything on the menu! The prices are even fantastic! My wife and I can not go with out ordering almost 1 order of everything from the menu haha.. But the old timey vibes along with the great food and service are all the right ingredients to an absolutely great atmosphere to enjoy your meal! Thanks for years of great food and service! Ill be sure to take a picture of all the greatness I come home with the next time I visit to share with anyone who may be curious.
Texas Hot Dogs - 58th Street very poor customer service! They were more worried about their $6.00 than helping an older gentleman who told me he broke his pelvis last week. Instead of taking his order back to him and collecting his money like a normal place should they got pissed because I took his tray back to him and didn’t collect his money, I was going to put his food order on our bill anyways, but she went back got his money and kept a tip he gave. I was not looking for a tip, I was just trying to help a gentleman who could barely walk. And the one girl kept running her mouth on how they are not to let anyone take a tray of food without paying first. I completely understand how places need money, but there are certain situations and these young girls need some lesson’s on how to treat people especially the elderly. I’m just amazed on how something so small like $6.00 can change a persons attitude Merry Freaking Christmas!!! To the rude workers of Texas hot dogs, you lost 3 customers! Ps they are all very unfriendly, and unhappy I did not see one smiling face on these high school girls!
