The Meadows is the best thing about Altoona. This diner type setting is cute and the frozen custard was great but it doesn't have the same charm as the Duncansville/Hollidaysburg location.
Not your typical ice cream shop. Frozen custard and yogurt here are both so delicious.

A stop at The Meadows Original Frozen Custard is never a bad experience, no matter which location you stop at.
I wish I could give 5 stars because the ice cream itself is good. But literally EVERY time we order something, the ice cream is overflowing in the cup. Not only that, rather than using a dome lid, which would prevent the ice cream from leaking, a regular drinking lid is used. It causes a huge mess in the car whenever we try to eat. It’s impossible to open the lid without a sticky ice cream mess spilling out everywhere. It’s just common sense to not fill up the cup all the way… Train your teenage staff properly to put ice cream in a cup or don’t sell it at all. It’s really not that hard to get it right.
If you read my reviews you know I am a stickler for good service. There was no smiles in this place. Unless they were laughing or playing around with each other. The boy that waited on us had zero smile and never cracked one. I got a banana split, it was decent but I got half way through and found a big hair in my banana split...YUK! Tried to tell them about it and I felt ignored. The "manager" pretty much ignored me until I got tired of waiting and just left. I will not go back and I will make sure I let people know what happened so they can beware also. I think they need an adult on the premises to help rein them in a little, they were all more playing than working it seemed like.
New kid working slightly screwed up my banana split.....but was basically just "cosmetic" , since the half I ate Tasted pretty good but my clumsy self shared the other half with my t-shirt and the dash and floor of my vehicle ???

Anytime I'm in the area this place is a must stop. They have the best ice cream around. I highly recommend them if you've never been here before.
Always super nice there and the frozen yogurt is so good.
