If you’re from Hawaii, don’t bother trying to eat here. It’s a basic BBQ place that should not have the word ‘Hawaiian’ before it— definitely not island style food. We got the Kalua pork plate and the Teri chicken. They used the wrong kind of white rice (not short grain) and the noodles were barely cooked/not seasoned. The only flavor came from the meat and the sauce they put on the side. Also the Mac salad was 100% more American than Hawaiian. Prices pretty well but felt like false advertising.
I agree with the reviews here that the interior is not conducive to eating. However, I highly recommend the food. Their chicken teriyaki and kalua pork were downright delicious. They were generous with the cabbage and rice. Plenty to eat, although we had mixed feelings about the macaroni/potato salad. Highly recommend this location's food - take it home and enjoy it!
I like their food but they are so inconsistent with their portions. I think it just depends on the person making the order and how busy they are. Yesterday I ordered a large and then went back in and ordered a small for my brother. When I got home, they looked to be the same size and way smaller than usual, so just out of curiosity I took out my kitchen scale and they weighed exactly the same. Frustrating because I paid $2 more to get a large. I tipped on both orders too which is even more annoying when you're not even getting what you paid for.
Love Kona! Cute little shop with the best food! I love them better than Hawaiian time! Kona Cafe always have the juiciest meat! Super flavorful and delicious!? Hawaiian times meat tends to be a bit on the dry side.
Hands down, my vote for best "clam-shell" take out.Simply put- Kona Cafe cooks their chicken better. I highly recommend the pineapple fried rice with the Volcano chicken. A large is plenty to share between 2 people If you found this review to be helpful please like it.??????????
The food is great and the staff is helpful and very friendly. We take out of town relatives there! And they love it.

Food was great, but after we sat at a table and started eating, a manager got upset with us, because THEY had failed to put signs up saying there's no inside dining at the moment due to lack of staff to properly clean between guests. She insisted that all the tables had had signs on them, couldn't imagine why the one table we were using didn't; neither my sister nor I could recall seeing anything on any of the tables before we sat down, or we would have questioned why just the one table seemed to be exempt. ??♂️??♂️Other than that, would've given five stars! ????♂️
We got our order to go and tried the kings sampler? Anyways it had all the different things they have to try their and we got half rack of ribs. All three of us were quite happy and will eat their again. Pleanty 9f left overs too. There was nothing I wouldn't try again. They really enjoyed the pasta macaroni salad. The ribs were good and they treat them prior to cooking them. Was surprisingly very affordable too and wish they had one in Salem Oregon. Just go you wont be disappointed.
