Located in the heart of the red light, meat-packing, intravenous drug using district on Silverton Road, Shooter's Cafe & Saloon has it all! Barely any daylight, Country Music, Beer, cameras from 1997, wood paneling, RC Cola, NASCAR, carpeting from the early 80s, flat screen TVS with the color going out in one of them, loud illiterate people, PUBE Beer...Wait, what's PUBE Beer?You know, it's that thing when the bartender hands you a can of Pub Beer and there's a pube in it.And wait! Is that former Oregon Ducks Head Coach Mario Cristobal? No, it's a migrant working cashing his check for shots of tequila and Oregon Lottery.Men's room was missing the fan, but hey. Urinal flushed and there was hot water and soap. That's a win. I found the sporadic diamond plating to be soothing and location appropriate.Bartender was friendly and efficient. Food was cooked great and I'll definitely come for lunch again. Cheap!
Perhaps one of the diviest of dives in Salem. This unassuming bar has plenty of video lotto, pool tables, karaoke and a brand new patio for the post-COVID times. Not for families or the faint of heart.
