Great homemade food, made with pride!*You have to try the biscuits and gravy*A small, locally owned and operated breakfast restaurant. Open Wednesday through Monday, 7:30am- 1pm. An excellent place for those who enjoy sitting back with a cup of coffee and friendly chit chat while they wait for their meal. You can sit at one of the 7 tables or at the counter. It is located at the corner of State Street and Lancaster. (Don't blink, or you'll miss it; and believe me, you don't want to!!!) Be sure to bring a good appetite, for a delicious dining experience.

Stopped in for breakfast and had some delicious 1/2 order of biscuits and gravey, Scrambled egg and German sausage. Great way to stayed fueled for the day. Kim the server was super friendly and there's plenty of options to choose from. The price won't break the bank either. Highly recommend stopping if you have the time and they aren't packed. To-Go options also available

Not that you need more reviews about this place, but I thought I’d share the details of my experience here. As a cook/chef with over 20 years of experience, I’d say this is an alright diner. The food: I ordered an off-menu item (corned beef hash omelette) and it was actually delicious. The hash is homemade, and surprisingly savory. The meal was presented very well, and my only complaints were that there wasn’t enough and it was too good. The service: Both employees (yeah - this place is that small) were extremely friendly. The server (Christie?) was helpful, proactive, and responsive. The cook was talkative and hard-working.Atmosphere: Here’s where the stars start to come off. The place is tiny, but clean. When I say tiny, I mean it feels like sitting in your own dining room at home. I’m shocked that they are able to stay in business with so few tables. They must really detest loiterers. Also, there is a “Let’s go, Brandon” sticker on the wall above the cook’s window. I’m not a fan of Biden either, but this seems like a childish, unprofessional jab at our president, and is likely to chase a lot of potential customers away. Finally, the prices: I was expecting to pay maybe $11-14 for a meal at a hole-in-the-wall place like this. All I had was an omelette, some home fries, 2 slices of toast, and a coffee. The bill came to $18.60 (+ tip). Needless to say, I was not impressed.

The best breakfast I've had in YEARS!! Everything is homemade and delicious. The food was hot, portions on point and prices were so fair!! The entire place was spotless, and the waitress was super friendly!! I absolutely recommend The Ritz to anyone interested in a home cooked breakfast, I know I'll be returning!!

Cute little place! Super friendly server! Good breakfast and good service!!

Very nice staff gave us fantastic service and the (new) cook made us a really nice breakfast. Portion sizes are just right and reflect the pricing which is reasonable. The restaurant is a true small town style cafe in the middle of busy Salem Oregon. I will absolutely be going back great job Ritz!!

Sarah and Jeff offer a great breakfast with good prices and great quantity of food. The quality is unsurpassed this is a great diner to go to I highly recommend it. I went to several of the other places around town and the only other place that's comparable is Josie's. If you're looking for a good honest place to eat this is one of the only two places I recommend in Salem.

I was at the Ritz Diner for breakfast this morning and I heard the owner shouting at his employee (hostess) over an order error.. she tries to explains but he kept yelling at her. The worst part when said he could talk to her however he wanted. Poor lady took her belongings left the place crying. Unfortunately, it's one of my favorite places to eat, but I don't support it any more as I have no tolerance for bully.

best country fried steak I've had in Salem

New owners and it shows! This is NOT the old Ritz diner by any means. They clearly have not found their rythem here....yet.We sat and ordered and after ordering (in a place that litterally has four tables of 4, two tables of 2 and 7 seats at the bar) it took almost 40 minutes to get food!!!My waffle was cold (didn't even melt my butter), eggs didn't look like two, forgot our bacon. The sausage was super greasy and the waitress was MIA more often than not.The biscuits and gravy were the best thing out of all of our food. Tasty gravy, light biscuit and hot....that's the only thing I would recommend rite now.The cook....not the waitress, the cook him self did offer and make a hot waffle when I asked to swap it out. Side note...the oj is one of those ones that tastes like it's on the verge of going bad.We will be waiting a wile before trying this place again (only because they have new owners).
