We didn't have Popeye's Chicken in the town where I grew up. If we were going to order chicken from somewhere it was always KFC. I mean c'mon, whatever type of seasonings they use on the outside of their chicken and in the gravy is undeniably delicious. With that being said, I feel it necessary to add that the KFC in my home town and the KFC in yours, may not match up to the same quality. Of course this has nothing to do with the ingredients but rather the good folks who are in charge of preparing these ingredients for us. I have always been a die hard Arby's fan. Sadly, you won't see me getting a meal from the one in the town I currently live in. I say all this because when it comes right down to it, there is no way I could pick one over the other in the world of fried chicken. The KFC where I live now isn't quite as dialed in as the one where I grew up either. I will still eat there and it is very good. Alright enough drumrolls and shuffling, time to deal. If you are in the neighborhood here and want the best fried chicken, it's going to be Popeye's. These guys know how to prepare their ingredients the right way. Consistently steaming hot and moist on the inside, and the perfect crunch and skin texture on the outside holding all of these juices in. Well done. If there are any left overs from the night before having Popeye's, they are gone before lunch the next day. Lastly I would like to say that their service is also speedy and efficient. I've had one person taking my payment while the other is packing up my food and asking me if I would like butter and honey for my biscuits. If I didn't catch on to that and don't give an answer then the one closest to me politely repeats the same question. I mention this as a way to say thank you for not just guessing. It's these little things, these thoughtful details, and combined with a group of individuals that know how to work together as a team,... That is truly what customer service is all about. Bravo!!
If you want good fried chicken it's hard to beat Popeyes. This location has consistently good, fresh food. Counter service is good if you go in. The drive-thru goes fairly fast, but there isn't much space to cue up, so if it's busy you may want to park and go inside. There are some very good deals on their app, so check that out too.
We ordered the classic crispy chicken sandwich combo. The customer service was top notch. The lobby and women's restroom we're very clean. The food was delicious but barely warm. (We ate in the parking lot, directly after placing the order in person in the store)
Good chicken great red beans and rice the food in general is pretty good but their portion sizes are ridiculously small I don't know how they expect a large mashed potato to feed a family of four it's like a cup of mashed potatoes I bought a KFC large mashed potato and stop them side-by-side no comparison KFC mashed potatoes are much larger and they're $2 less expensive so they need to adjust their prices or get bigger portions
WORST (!!!) experience I've ever had a restaurant/ drive thru (!!!).Ordered this/ got that... had to park and go inside to fix order. Store manager just wanted to argue about it ("I'm sorry, sir, but he's new and should've told you that we automatically substitute when out of an item";and, "I'm sorry, sir, but there's a fifty cent, extra, charge when you add mac & cheese as your selected side").The drive-thru, ordering screen doesn't show a single notification about there being an extra 50 cents being charged when your one (1) selected side is mac & cheese. Also, they didn't tell me at the pick up window... I had to discover it by READING my receipt.Never did get a refund for my screwed up order, AND... they forgot my biscuit !!!Sure won't recommend 'Popeye's' to anyone !!!!!!!!!!
Good customer service, but we waited a long while in drive thru for our food and they still forgot things. Food that was given was okay, biscuits were harder than ever, they gave a half tablespoon of Mac n cheese and charged $ .50 more for nothing. Chicken strips were hard and dry.
Ordered two chicken sandwiches on the app. Went through drive thru and they told me to come inside to pick up the order. Thought that was weird because my order was so small. I did it anyway. Walked inside and told them who I was. Waited inside for 20 minutes trying to be understanding because I knew they were busy. I was watching huge orders in the lobby that came after me go out to customers. People going through the drive thru getting their orders. Finally I asked what was taking so long. My order was ready but just sitting on the counter not bagged up. Guess they forgot about me. Probably why you shouldn't pull people around from the drive thru with such small orders... I contacted customer service through the app and they obviously didn't read what I said because they said "sorry you waited 20 minutes in the drive thru." And went on about how the lobby might be closed because of staffing issues. The lobby wasn't closed. I didn't say it was.
Love their spicy chicken. I went through the drive thru, had to wait over 15 minutes since they didn't have what I wanted. But they were great...they refunded ALL my money because I waited so long. This location always has our business.
Disgusting food. Their new Mac and cheese is horrible. Chicken must have been sitting under the heat source for a long time since it was so dry and hard. Even the biscuits were too hard to eat. Called the manager and they wouldn’t resolve the issue. Won’t be back
Always love good old reliable Popeyes! Way better than other chicken joints. Our family favorite. So happy to have one here in Salem.
