Not impressed by this place. Atmosphere I'd say it's a 5, seat yourself and order upfront. They were out of there signatures meal items blackened alligator. We had the fried chicken sliders, they were ok. Limp, wilted Cole slaw. Chicken tastes pretty decent but very thin slices, then we had fried pickles, very overly salty, almost inedible. Black coffee was so bitter and dark, five creamers couldn't help this cup of Joe. Lastly, we had the fried chicken filets on spicy red beans and a clump of white rice on top, not a favorite at the table.
The food is delicious and fresh (large portions). Their drinks are also very flavorful they have about 6 different flavors in slush-style alcoholic beverages, which are perfect for the hot weather during the summer. A good treat for the kids would be the beignets my kids love them! ???
This review is just for the beignets...Holly cow I have found an actual authentic, good beignet!!!!Thank you, thank you for being the salvation in the west for my southern self. My soul is truly happy today!Fluffy and crispy, hot and sweet and perfectly cooked.I will battle downtown (don't normally if I don't have to) just to come get these little golden nuggets of perfection.Open and bright. A playful interior, clean and friendly service.I'll try something new next time I come to get those beignets.Recommended
I don't know if most places are still serving brunch late on a Sunday, but this place was and it was delicious. My wife and I both had chicken sandwiches (different, not the same). She crowned her's the best she's had since moving to the PNW and mine was the second best I've had since moving (her's being the best).
I recently moved back into town and was really excited for this place. Overall my experience was good. Not to my expectations, but good. I ordered the hotbird with a side of gumbo and my wife got the cheeseburger and fancy fries. I'm not a huge fan of Buffalo sauce so the sandwich was a bit disappointing. My gumbo had nice big chunks of chicken and sausage in it but overall it was lacking flavor. It was definitely solid though. I tried my wife's burger and was pleasantly surprised. It was definitely better than my chicken sandwich. The fries were great; thin and crispy just how I like them. I will be coming back to try other items.
The food went above and beyond: Shrimp and grits were some of the best I've ever had (even compared to South Carolina), a lot of intentional detail put into the chicken sandwich to make it excellent. The grass slipper cocktail REALLY yummy. But the thing that really stayed with me was the service: they were attentive, fun, and cleared away dirty dishes instead of leaving them on the table. We had our baby with us and they were very accommodating. We will definitely be going back!
I stopped in for lunch on a Sunday. Turns out they have a unique Sunday menu! I was very pleased with the options for food. I ended up ordering the Classic bird with a side of the "Hot Bird" sauce, and a classic Bloody Mary. First thing to note, the hostess/waitress, Kyra, who greeted me was just beaming with smiles and positive vibes. I was having kind of a rough day emotionally, and her smiles and energy really elevated me. Small actions from her made a huge difference in my mood. Thank you, Kyra, for being you! Kyra also made my Bloody Mary, and it was absolutely fantastic. It had a wonderful balance of tomato juice, hot sauce, and alcohol and it just popped off the second it hit my pallette. The food also looked very appetizing, and tasted as good as it looked. Fries were crispy and not too salty. The sandwich was SO juicy and flavorful. The breading had some kind of magic going on that I can't pinpoint, but A+ you guys. Thanks Noble Wave for making my Sunday lunch break much brighter.
Great lunch stop. Very attentive staff and the food was a welcome change from the burger and fries variety. Husband had the gumbo and rated it highly. Great choices in brews for a small business.
This place is the bomb, it should definitely be rated as a top ten restaurant in Salem! The fried chicken is crispy, juicy, and flavorful. It makes you feel like you are in Louisiana. The fries are perfectly crispy and seasoned and the ranch and fry sauce are amazing. They also serve some original slushy drinks that is the cherry on top. I’ve been here for their brunch, lunch, and dinner; and everyone single time it has been sooooo delicious. I literally dream of the spicy chicken sando (the hot bird) every week and would recommend everyone to try this place for their amazing food!
I've traveled the US for work. Louisiana many times. So I put their Fried Gator and Chiken and shrimp Gumbo. Tasted like Louisiana to me. Good drinks also. Cool vibe, good food if you're in the mood for a touch of the south or a tasty Hurricanes this the spot downtown.
