Just brought my son by for for first time. Drove by quite a few times and thought the place looked interesting. It was interesting and the food was great. I didn't catch the name of the server but he was really awesome as well. Definitely going back!
Cool outdoor seating really friendly staff, and good beer selection. They had flights to try lots of local beers, wines and spirits. The truffle fries were really good but the Thai Dragon tacos just okay, I should have got a burger. They let you sample the beer first. I really enjoyed the Dorada they have on tap, sour and crisp I don’t really know of another beer to compare it to.
Our favorite hangout for years! Jen makes some of the best brews in Salem and the staff are always friendly. Good happy hour and unique yet comforting space both inside and outside!
We couldn't find a good eating place to sit down and have food & beer on a Monday in Salem area. Finally found one. McMenamins is a great go-to option. Service was friendly and food was good. A little on the spendy side but they had happy hour prices while we were there.
Came for lunch just before noon on a Monday… it didn’t seem too busy but waiting to be seated, getting water, getting our order taken, everything took way too long. Then our waitress disappeared and a different server took over and told us they were backed up and the manager was helping out with cooking. I’m sure it didn’t help that a large group that was seated after us got their order in before us. We did get our food about 40 minutes after we arrived, it was fine but not worth the wait. P.S. They also forgot my drink, but it wasn’t on the bill thankfully!
On our drive back home from Portland, we got pretty hungry and wanted to stop in Salem for lunch. Most of the places we wanted to try in Central Area were pretty busy, and we didn't want to wait too long. I pulled out my phone to search restaurants outside of that area and found this McMenamins! We love McMenamins, so it was an easy decision to make once I knew there was one in town. We got there around 2:00 pm, and to our surprise, it wasn't very busy (at least inside). We were seated immediately and had pretty fast service. As always, our food was delicious as we'd expect from McMenamins, and the vibe inside the restaurant was very cozy. It kind of made me want to stay and nap before continuing our drive. I had the french onion soup, which was very warm and delicious, and their burger with a fried egg. My wife had the gyro, and my mother-in-law had a turkey sandwich. I also had the opportunity to try a new beer here, which was very good (Dulce Dorata - Blonde Ale). I loved the inside of the restaurant since it reminded me of the McMenamins on High Street in Eugene. I also noticed that they had outside seating, and it looked like they may have had some fire pits outside. Now that I know this place is here, I won't hesitate to come back if I'm in Salem!
Visited yesterday afternoon. It was just us and another group outside. The waitress, served us our beer and disappeared. We had to ask another waitess for 2nd round. Our waitress finally took our order and we never saw her after that. We sat and played 4 card games, a good 30 minutes and no sighting of her. So.ebody else brought out our o ion rings and sliders which were barely warm. We asked where our waitress was and were told she waiting tables inside. No communication as to who was now our new waitress. We had to ask for our bill as our waitress never reappeared. Yep, no tip left at all. Next time, try communicating with those you are serving.
Gone here a few times and every time it is so good! Food comes out while still hot and the customer service of the waiters/waitresses is always great. We just recently went again and were waited on by Dalton and he was so friendly and so kind to my children. Love this place!
I really like the vibe here, but I wouldn't say that McMenamins stands out beyond the vibe. The beer selection is good, and the food options are plentiful. The portions are generous, and the staff are kind. However, the price, even at happy hour, is a little more than I'd like to pay given the quality of food. The 33rd State Poutine is not a standard poutine in my opinion. It's a bit saltier and uses tots in which may be great to some people, but I didn't need it so salty and I may have preferred fries. The burger is good but nothing spectacular. You can get something more gourmet downtown for the same price. In the end, I was still happy to have a hearty meal in a cozy place. I'd come back if my girlfriend wanted to again.
Great Food. Great service. Friendly service. I recommend it ? o/o
