Horrible, I went to ask if they had a product I was looking for, before I could get the words out of my mouth , the person says, no we don't care that anymore, no help no suggestions. I was just dismissed. Never going back... An I have spent a lot of money in that store, since the remodel, the got rid of the good customer service and people that work there...
Terrible management, the workers are amazing but the overall green washing of the company is terrible. Also management is racist. I applied 3 times to work here got denied all 3 times despite having an associates degree and management experience, 2 times i put down i am hispanic and last time i put that i was white, guess when they called me? When i put down i was white despite not being. I called them out for it and they told me they were no longer interested. + i have several friends who were fired for trying to start a union. They pay their employees below $15 despite charging $15 for a pound of veggies
Please don't support this place. In these times lifesource is the most racist environment I've experienced. My wife is a sous chef , years of experience, and BLACK. She applied there and was told they weren't hiring. Our neighbor who's white and knows the manager from roller derby was hired the day after she was lied to about not hiring. I went in with her and saw BLM stickers, and all of the stuff they want the community to think they supportThis place needs to be shut down. My wife is full of Grace and has already found employment. This isn't a review of spite. It's an honest call out of racism and green washing. I encourage Salem to shop elsewhereNatural foods, Trader Joe's. I hope a new heal th food store comes to Salem.Lets do better and shop where it's due.
Cool store but that's about it. Hot garbage for customer service, the employees need a reminder on how to treat customers like they're human beings. I tried checking out but the dude kept talking to his coworker (dudet) and idk why he came off so aggressive but he told me "I'm standing here for a reason' Like alright my guy I get your mad about having to do your job? Anyway the employees need to yknow not be dog water at their job.Exception is my guy Lenny, I keep missing you my hombre but you stay solid and keep on trucking my brah.
I've been coming here for a while but stopped due to the overpriced goods that are really nothing special. The hot food is really nothing to write home about and cost as much as dining out! Seriously, 12-14 bucks for food that's been sitting out. The staff is not the friendliest on weekends, either si I would avoid coming in on a Saturday or Sunday. Lifesource is definitely a co-op wannabe that mostly caters to the elites that drive down from the slopes.
Love the store. Pizza, horrible. The sausage sauce is over done. The veggie should taste like veg not the sauce. If I was the manager I would not put sauce on the veggie and more veggies but less weird cheese. The consistency is smoosh on pizzas here. All pizza. It's a icky goo when in your mouth.
Unfortunately, I will not be returning to this store. A health food store where more then half of the staff, and most all customers refuse to wear masks during a global pandemic is extremely dangerous towards those of us who have family members who are medically fragile. This is not “two sided” or “political”, it’s about supporting our communities most vulnerable populations. Since I do not live in Salem and had just gotten out of a Dr appointment, I stopped by to pickup certain natural medications, I figured it would be safe at a health food store, I was extremely mistaken. I usually avoid all indoor settings to protect my family member who is medically fragile.I spent over $250; and explained my concerns to the unmasked checker (all were unmasked), and it was suggested I purchase online. I am extremely concerned regarding our societies lack of care for those who are 3 times more likely to die from Covid-19 and other respiratory illnesses. Please learn about abled supremacy, wearing a mask for able bodied folx is a simple request to literally save someone’s life.Honestly, the groceries and supplements are also overpriced. Why should I pay $10 more per bottle for supplements at this store? The pizza was soggy and barely edible and cost over $4 for one slice!
There are so many things I love about Lifesource. The staff is always authentically friendly and helpful. On more than one occasion produce staff have enthusiastically shared facts about new and unique produce items. I rarely have to wait in line and the check out staff are attentive and fun to talk to.The deli options are great for grab and go lunches or picnics. One of my favorite options is the northwest kale salad mixed with their house made ginger peanut tofu ~ yum! Their housemade vegan ranch is *the best* ranch, even if you aren’t vegan I recommend it!They also have one of the best beer selections in Salem and are constantly rotating in new options. Their wine selection is expanding and I’m excited to see how it develops. I would love to continue seeing more locally made natural wines.Lifesource has great organic produce and there’s always some seasonal wild mushroom or exotic fruit to try. They have a lot of options for vegetarian, vegan, and dairy free diets. One area for improvement is the bread selection. Ever since Silver Falls Bakery stopped delivering I miss a really rustic, freshly baked bread option. All in all, Lifesource is a gem among grocers in Salem. You can expect a unique selection, friendly staff, and something new every time you shop.
I enjoy this store and their incredible bulk selection, but they're the only store in Salem that does not allow a face shield and past trauma prevents me from having ANYTHING tightly covering my nose/mouth/eyes. I still shop, but it's only for 1 or 2 things before my anxiety kicks in. :( Tried online order and there is never a same day option.
Always fun to haul up 10 gallons of bottles + multiple kids into the cart, only to arrive to the back of the store & see the the reverse osmosis water machine is out of order. Maybe they had a sign posted on the front door and I just wasn’t paying enough attention to see it.We have ended up going to Natural Grocers lately instead anyways.
