The food is delicious and authentic. It's our go-to place for Mexican food. I took off a star because the decor could be freshened up. During the day its very dark unless you sit by the windows.
The food is amazing! Doesn't taste like any Mexican food I've ever had. The guacamole appetizer is to die for! Great service and soo cute inside. Everything was made fresh to order. My new favorite place to eat in salem!
What an honor to have such a world class Mexican restaurant in a community like Salem Oregon. This family came from Newport Beach California and have worked for the famous Javier Sosa at both Newport Beach and Aria hotel in Las Vegas. Their food is not normal Mexican fare. It is world class center of the plate amazing flavor pairing as well as authentic. If you are looking for cheap Tex-Mex style Mexican, then this is not your place. The food is amazing and the prices are accordingly to the quality and expertise in preparation. The steak and prawn preparations at this restaurant are borderline of any five-star restaurant in Portland Oregon. The talent is second to none for this area. They're Margaritas are made 100% from scratch using 100 % agave tequilas. Wait times for the food on a busy night can be challenging because of the limited staff. Limited staff will not change because there's not enough employees to go around not to mention it adds to the cost of your food. I go there and enjoy myself and I'm not in any hurry. You will never eat this level of Mexican food in Salem ever again and I'm sure the family will be moving to bigger and better Skies soon. Such an amazing place! Delicious fresh margaritas! Serious high quality food and drinks. I got the tampiquena steak with two cheese enchiladas and it was one of the best meals I’ve had in a long time. They were really busy but the two gals working made sure we were happy and did the best job. Can’t wait to visit again. So so good! Best Mexican food and Margaritas in Salem.
La Vida Catrina has really great food and I would give the food a 5. The dishes we ordered were delicious and well prepared. The restaurant needs a little updating and more staff! Pleasant experience, but it took way too long!
Food was delicious, I got the combo plate with an enchilada, tamale, and Chile relleno. They bring chips and salsa and beans to your table. Salsa was fresh and overall I enjoyed the experience. I would say it’s overpriced and service was slow, so I probably won’t go back, but it was a nice one off dinner.
We have always had a great experience here. This place is locally owned and family operated. If you want authentic Mexican food, this is the place! I love this place.
