Overall Score: 43/50 (just over a 4 star)Cleanliness: The space looks clean and was clean. Nothing to complain about. From the bar to the tables to the bathroom, it's all clean and looks in order. (10/10)Service: The service was lacking here, but not bad. Despite there being almost nobody here when I went (Tuesday lunch), I waited a lot. The TV screens weren't showing the right beers, the wait time to order was a bit drawn out; however, I give leeway since I think the server was in training. As far as attitude goes, it was great! (7/10)Quality: Great food and beer quality! Probably the best of all the breweries I tried in the area. Could it be improved? Sure! (9/10)Environment: It feels classy and welcoming. I would love to take some friends here, share a beer, and engage in conversation; whether to laugh at memories, have a meeting, etc. The space is versatile. (9/10)Uniqueness: It isn't unique when compared to the other breweries that follow the same exact style. However, in the area, it is the only one that goes a classy route like this. Beer is unique, but could be improved. Menu also didn't necessarily stand out, but that's not always a bad thing. (8/10)
I usually don't care about the price when eating out. However, when the food is mostly burgers and fries for $10 to $20 and it's mid... then I start to wonder why I don't go elsewhere. Sadly this place isn't even a top 3 spot in west salem for a burger and fries. According to my sources More people would rather go to Nancy's Carl's Jr and Roth's.. This place is more than a burger joint to be fair. It seems to have a good variety of alcoholic drinks. But come on. Who wants to pay 2x and 3x the price of finger food and to wait 30 minutes for it. Couldn't be me. If I go here it'll be for takeout. But I'd have to be down atrocious to make that mistake.
My boyfriend and I came here for our second year anniversary. The restaurant is very warm and inviting, the music fits the setting perfectly and adds to the welcoming feeling. The menu has a good selection of options to choose from. Different salads, sandwiches and burgers as well as some entree options, I ordered their steelhead fish and chips and a side salad. I wasn't disappointed. The food was very good, fries were a slight but on the salty side, but they were still good. I am definitely going to be back!
Our first visit here we sat at the bar for AT LEAST 15 minutes before someone decided to greet us and take our order. We (thankfully) ordered our drinks and an app at the same time for fear of it taking another 15 to be able to order something. Beer was great, soft pretzel sticks were AMAZING, but service is horrible! We had to flag someone down for our tab because no one was paying any attention to us - AT THE BAR!The only reason we came back a second time was for the pretzels, which we were told they ran out of. Fried pickles were suggested so we ordered - BLAND. No flavor. Beer is still great and service still sucks second time around. Bummer because the inside is very nice, new, and welcoming. Will not be going back.
So tonight was pretty bad. I normally not very critical when I go out and I work in F&B and tend to be pretty empathetic. But tonight was particularly bad and it was my family talking me out for my 31 birthday that's on Saturday and I have to work so we went out tonight. Service was incredibly slow and it wasn't crazy bust, coming in at 7:30. There's a couple servers and a food runner so I don't get the slowness. Server didnt really have a great attitude, seemed like a bother to serve us, we didnt ask for a whole lot really. The portion sizes have drastically changed compared to the last time we were there and our order sat in the window for 20 minutes. We could see it sitting in the window from our table. Fish was good even while cold, mushrooms were good. Fries were cold and rock hard by time we got them. My heathen burger was fine but my husband's firehouse burger was not the firehouse burger. Had no sauce and there was avocado on it. I don't know how much this meal cost but the service kind of ruined it. Not a great birthday dinner.
I really WANT to love Gilgamesh. We enjoy the atmosphere and the food is good, but they’ve earned a reputation for poor service. Each time we visit, we question why we gave them another chance. The wait for everything is outrageous, which makes dining with a family really difficult. Staffing is an issue for everyone now, but Gilgamesh is having an especially hard time, considering this was an issue for them prior to the pandemic. Rarely is there any acknowledgement for the time it takes and unfortunately, I feel that the servers take the brunt of frustration for the breakdown in the entire operation. The more people from salem I talk to, the more that I realize these are more than just “one off” situations. I really hope that they start taking feedback seriously and either limiting space in their giant restaurant or staffing properly.
Great food, Ashlee & Reagan took great care of us just like always!
A very large, airy eating area and nice service. Nothing too fancy. Cooks were a bit slow. Salads are great. Not impressed with their fried foods though - would stay away from those.
Really good beer picks. It is refreshing to find a brewery that isn't IPA heavy. The good was a little underwhelming, pulled pork needed a bit more seasoning.
My Chicken Bacon Ranch sandwich that was missing the bacon…We did a order for pick up and didn’t notice until we got home. We order weekly from this location, and every week there is something wrong with our order. Tonight’s was just the straw that broke the camels back on us wanting to return to this location.
