This was our second time eating here, the first time was in 2019. The food was better than I remembered it to be, which is saying a lot as I remembered it being amazing! True was hopping on a Saturday night, reservations highly recommended. There is the bar side, a bit noisy, and the dining only side. We like quiet so luckily we were sat on the dining only side. I started with a Strawberry-Elderflower margarita and it was so good, and I was so thirty after a six hour drive, that it went down like that! The second one was sipped and enjoyed even more. A perfect combination which speaks volumes of the mixologists, Travis and Cameron. My husband and I had Pork Wings and the Orange Pecan salad. Both were packed with flavor. The pork was moist and succulent; fall-off-the-bone goodness. It was served with a gorgonzola slaw that even my blue cheese hating husband enjoyed. It was a perfect way to challenge his thoughts on blue cheese. The salad was refreshing and the candied pecans went perfectly with the butter lettuce and goat cheese crumbles I had the Lemon-Caper Halibut, that was tasty, but the winner, and what I lusted after, was my husband's Spice Rubbed Pork Chop. It was cooked perfectly in my opinion with a generous piece of Kurobuta bone-in pork. Everything on that plate worked well, the white cheddar-poblano polenta, roasted Brussels sprouts and other items that made this dish sing in my mouth. Our waiter Robbie was excellent, and we will most certainly request him on our next visit. After two cocktails, I wanted a shot of tequila and he gave me a drinkable and reasonably priced one to go with our chocolate cake. The check was reasonable considering how much we ate, especially comparing it to San Francisco Bay Area prices. We will most certainly make Roseburg, the perfect mid=-point between SF and Seattle, and True Kitchen + Bar a regular stop when we drive to Seattle to visit the grandbaby. In fact, I can see waking up on Friday, and deciding dinner 6 hours away is a good plan. Yes, it was that good!!
The food was amazing. And they accommodated a party of 6 and a highchair rarely quick, next time we know to make a reservation. Our server was also the bartender and he was very friendly. We had appetizers and main course, they had great kid menu options as well. I had the short ribs very tasty, I also had a bite of everyone else's. Definitely coming back! Thank you!
Never a bad experience! Food is mouth wateringly delicious, staff are friendly, professional and efficient. Always counting the days until I can go back!
The drinks were great! Travis is a knowledgeable and skillful bartender! You must try the Rosemary maple smoked old fashioned! The food was so tasty. We had the scallops which were cooked perfectly with an amazing sauce! Our server Briar, was super friendly and very attentive! We can always count on a fine dining experience when we come here.
True Kitchen + Bar is a great addition to Roseburg. Contemporary cuisine which is outstanding and a great vibe. Fantastic bar. Service is excellent. Menu has something for everyone. One of our favorite places to dine.
About the most perfect and True dining experience we could ever have hoped for. Seriously. From greeting to seating and dining, the service level never faltered. The calm, polished, smooth excellence throughout the meal was perfect. I enjoyed a fresh and simple house salad that was beyond lettuce and tomato, garnished with special radish slices and lightly cologned with a vinaigrette. The specialty cocktails are lovely, but the star here was the steak, buttery tender flavorful goodness elegantly presented. When dessert time came, we asked if we could get it in a takeaway container and there was no fuss, just a yes. We were tired and wanted to enjoy wine and dessert at home, so imagine how wonderful to open the box and find the dessert sitting properly in its container, accompanied by its flourishes on the side. Everything about True is so delightful, the Northwest decor, the employees working together, the patrons all gathered for goodness and a celebration of life, food, gatherings, and connection.Highly, highly recommended.
Beautiful establishment! The food was amazing! I had the seared scallops, they were worth every penny. Talked with the owner, Lisa. She alone is enough of a reason for me and my friends to return! What an amazing woman!!! I hope you get to eat here and I hope you get to meet Lisa, the owner. Annnd the drinks from the bar, haha yup we will be back for sure
I had dinner there last night with two other friends. We all loved, raved about our dinners, the service was fast and great, and I always enjoy the ambience, whether in the dining room or the bar. I have never had a bad meal there and it is my absolute favorite in our area.
True Kitchen + Bar knocked my socks off the second I arrived. The interior is dimly lit with wall-hung candles, and elegant yet casual. It's an inviting vibe that takes a lot of skill to balance so well. Our group was shown to a private back room that was so chic and comfortable. The menu at the restaurant is very eclectic, with unusual combinations of ingredients. I was drawn to the Southwest Salad and the Miso-Ginger Halibut, so I ordered both. One thing I loved a lot about the menu is that the dishes were presented exactly as described. No missing ingredients, no surprise ingredients. Kudos to the kitchen staff for this. The Southwest Salad ($12) was a knockout. Chopped romaine with a tangy white cheddar cheese, crispy and smoky bacon pieces, a sweet corn salsa, cherry tomatoes, and spicy pepitas made for a magic culinary combination. On top was a large, ripe avocado half as well as crispy onion straws. The dressing was a poblano vinaigrette, and it was so good. I loved this salad. My Halibut dinner was one of the more interesting dishes I've had in a long, long time. My fish was cooked perfectly, so flaky and delicate. It could've used a touch more salt, but the miso-giner buerre blanc and black bean garlic peanut sauce made up for a lack of basic seasoning. It sounds like those sauces wouldn't mesh well, but they went together perfectly. So unusual, but so, so tasty. The top of the fish had a small garnish of zucchini noodles (I could've eaten an entire bowl of those, they were so good). Not watery at all. The snap peas tasted like they were blistered in the garlic sauce, and they were a lovely combination when paired with the jasmine rice. The rice had been "pan fried," with crunchy, crispy bits. Such a joy to eat. The best treat were the two small shrimp wontons that filled the bowl. All of the flavors and textures came together in an interesting, delicious way. This is a dish I can't wait to eat again, and I would highly recommend it to adventurous foodies. I am a big eater, and I found the portion sizes to be quite large. It was welcome after a long day of driving through the Oregon wilderness (and having nothing to eat but snacks from my cooler: cheese and nuts). The prices are in line with the portion sizes. This is such a gem, and is perfect for a nice but casual evening out.
