We enjoyed the Ahi Tuna tower and the mackerel lunch meal along with tonkatsu original ramen. Portion sizes for the makeral rice lunch were smaller. Would definitely recommend the tower! Beautiful restaurant space!

Every ingredient has attention to detail applied to it and it's impossible to ignore. The aikimo is so good it could be a dessert. Texture is flawlessly consistent and the taste is amazing. It's like this umami/sweet situation without any strong notes of any kind. The ramen is the same situation. Broth has great texture and taste. Rich without being "thick", all the ingredients are so fresh and either crisp, or vibrant, or well prepared. The ramen eggs are super flavorful and perfect consistency for the yolk. Noodles have bounce, chew, and their own flavor. The staff are incredibly gracious and attentive, the decor is really pleasant and cohesive, and the music is pleasant and not overstimulating or too loud, either. Nailed the ambience.Prices are dependent on your objective. The ramen is like 15-20, the nice appetizers are 9-12ish, salads up to maybe 15-17ish, and drinks and other accoutrements are like 10-15. Portions are really satisfactory.Expect to pay 30ish/person for a meal with drink and a side before tip, but my god is it so worth it.Idk, for randomly walking in on a whim while passing, eating here totally turned my day around and took the podium for best Japanese food on the west coast for me.

Man this place was delicious! Best sushi I’ve had in Portland so far!The salmon sampler was amazing, (I order salon often and this was top notch). So was the crispy octopus, really interesting and delicious. Our waitress was so nice, she didn’t mind stopping by our table for a few minutes to explain the various grades of sake.Great ambiance, great experience. Everyone in Portland was very nice in general. Thanks for the great experience!

Yama Sushi & Izakaya has become our favorite place to eat sushi. The deep fried rolls are amazing. Seaweed salad and miso soup are delicious, too! They serve you fast and are very nice. Recommend this restaurant!

I was blown away by this place, the sushi was delectable. Soft sticky rice and fresh fish with a creamy bite. I got the Oregon roll, salmon skin roll, and the kimchi ramen. Can I mention how tasty that ramen was? I adore kimchi and the crispy pork was just a bonus. Probably my new favorite sushi place in Portland.

We visited this restaurant for a friends birthday with a big party of people and were seated quickly at a cool table upstairs on a balcony. The server was happy to refrigerate a little cake we brought with us and all the food we ordered was delicious. The art inside the restaurant is all really pretty and I enjoyed the music and low lighting.

Came here as recommendation from a few locals (as I'm from San Diego, CA) and I WISH we had this quality of food near me. The sushi was fresh...the rice was fluffy...the salmon was cooked perfectly and the employees as so kind and knowledgeable. This is definitely a go to every time I come to visit Portland.

Another great sushi restaurant on my PDX sushi tour. My parents and I enjoyed the sushi from Yama. The fish was fresh and the rolls were very flavorful. The presentation was on point too.I had a to go order so didn't Dine In. However I did notice masks were required as well as proof of Vaccination when I arrived at the restaurant. The staff was very friendly but definitely took the mask and Vaccination mandates seriously. It was a Friday and there was ample street parking by the restaurant. The restaurant wasn't full but they were booked. A few walkins had to make later reservations as I waited for my food. I would highly recommend making reservations ahead of time.If you're in the neighborhood and are craving sushi Yama is the place to go.

Huge sake selection that I wasn't totally expecting to to along with plenty of different sushi. The sushi we ordered was very high quality and came out very quickly even though the restaurant was full. Worth noting the servers were very attentive and checked in frequently despite how busy the restaurant was.Overall I was very impressed and wouldn't hesitate to go back again next time we are in Portland!

One of the best sushi spots in Portland . Fast and really good service !! food is really good highly recommend this place
