We tried to stop and try Pip’s, but they had closed early. We decided to give Voodoo another try. We had previously tried them at Universal Citywalk in Orlando. They are mostly creatively designed and named, but they just tasted mediocre. The line indicated they stay popular.
We are glad we got to try these donuts, but we probably will not go again the next time we are in Portland. There are other places with better donuts. It is worth going once because it is a famous place, but thereafter ask the locals for recommendations for better donuts.
The doughnuts have a huge following. I find them overly sweet and kind of stale tasting. There are many doughnut shops around Portland worth trying.
Came here despite locals warning that this spot is a tourist trap and boy am I happy I did. Unintentionally, I ordered a vegan donut and it was just perfect. The flavors and bread tasted just as buttery as a real donut. The staff was pretty friendly welcoming. The decorations are all pretty cool too. Definitely worth a stop!
First ever Voodoo Donuts. We waited in line for over an hour. There were a lot of people asking for money, digging in the garbage and screaming at eachother right next to us, definitely scared some children. The associate that helped us was very nice and helpful, she made some great suggestions. Cherry time was my favorite. I don't think I'll stop and get donuts here again, but the designs and flavor choices are fun. The donuts don't fit the box well so some are placed on top of eachother and they get stuck to the bottom one, so you end up with 2 flavors on 1.
Generally overrated, tasted like Walmart donuts, not worth the wait. Tried many kinds, all the same. I don’t know why this place is so popular. The only place to eat is outside where there are many homeless people on drugs screaming. Waste of time and money.
We had walked past this place several times and there was always a line. I knew I wanted to stop at the original Voodoo as I had only visited the Universal store prior to this. So we got up early one day and got in line. It moved very fast. The counter staff were great and helped us pick out the perfect selection of doughnuts. So delicious. I will definitely be back next time I am in PDX!
Well now. The staff was awesome...friendly and willing to help patiently. I have to say that each of their donuts are definitely worth 3x a regular donut. I asked if I could take pics and they said, "Sure!" I got the custard filled one and it was great! the dough was fresh and pillowy soft with PLENTY of delicious filling! There are two in Portland. I chose old town. I'm sure either will satisfy that sweet craving. Enjoy! I did!!!
Excellent experience at Voodoo~cute store and excellent customer service. I am not a fan of the voodoo doll but everything was really delicious. Not a crazy sweet but the right amount. Highly recommended this location and will definitely come back again!:)
I have to say, the donuts here are good. Not to sweet like Krispy cream. Many varieties to choose from, maybe too many. Doesn’t taste like fried soggy donuts. Many homeless, and the business did their best to keep the customers see the beautiful side of Portland. Go Portland ???
