I’ll try to keep this short and PG because when I get this excited about food my language tends to get pretty colorful, but I think I just found heaven on Earth. After the first bite alone, this place has shown me that I’ve never had a proper vegan breakfast before because wow wow wow. The quaintness of the restaurant, the food cooked and seasoned to perfection, plus the electric music delivers everything you could want from a diner experience. My only complaint is that this place isn’t lined out the door with vegans from all over. As long as I’m in PDX I will be retuning and brining all my friends, plant based or not. Really wish I could give more than 5 stars. If you’re viewing this review trying to decide where to eat, stop looking and get your a** here!

Vertical Diner was on our list to visit while in Portland. Best breakfast! Had one GF pancake, side of scrambled tofu (simply the best I’ve ever had, flavorful and huge portion) side of sautéed mushrooms, and a Breakfast Burrito, spicy but great, with a gorgeous side salad. Attentive service. If you’re vegan, or if you aren’t but want to try it out this is a super relaxed place to hang out and eat. The desserts looked amazing, but we will wait until next time. Thanks, Vertical Diner!

Dude! The dude cakes are the way to go. Savory pancakes with fries and gravy, peppers and onions sounds a little crazy but it works and it is delicious. Our server was engaging and helpful. I didn't realize this place was vegan till we sat down and looked at the menu. We also had the mushroom stroganoff and coffee and everything was excellent. The salad was pretty too, with the beautiful ribbons of sliced beets. I didn't like the chalk sign at the front door that pretty much said don't enter if you are anti-vaccine. Live and let live i say. Just keep making great food and don't be biased about your customers views on vaccination and I will keep singing your praises.

So it's right off of the highway so it has easy access and when you get inside it's very quaint and quiet. Better yet, the food is amazing, they make their own sauces and you can really taste the difference, although they're a tad pricey. Great selection of foods with breakfast food open all day long. I would seriously recommend this place for anyone who is interested in trying vegan food for the first time, tenth time, or hundredth time!

The nachos are delicious! My son loved the chocolate cake. Old school diner atmosphere, with plants! Kiddo said it reminds him of Fallout 4. I'm not sure what that means, but he assures me it's cool. Our server was friendly. ?

I never had a vegan meal until today and I was very plesently surprised.

Absolutely amazing diner for a quick bite (especially for the vegan and gluten free). Our waitress was so sweet, I didn't catch her name, but she took excellent care of us. From the chips and guacamole, down to the carrot cake - Holy cow all of it is delicious! No, the carrot cake is not gluten free, but it's worth the pain LOL.

Delicious food. The Tony Hawk Tiger Burger was great and the vertical sauce on it was really good too. Definitely recommend the chili cheese fries and the Mac and cheese also one to try.My youngest kid had the triple threat gluten free pancakes and they loved the coconut flavor thoughout the stack. They ate about half of them.We also tried the tiramisu which was more of a pound cake density, but had great flavor.

I was very excited to find a breakfast place with many gluten free vegan options on the menu. The dinner had a 1950s vibe to it. The staff was nice and willing to help with accommodations for food allergies. The food quality was really good on the mountain scramble. There was lots of flavor and came with a choice of guac or cheese sauce...both of which were delicious with the dish..which was also cooked perfectly.I was excited that there was a gluten free pancakes option, and the mix ins for the pancakes. The gluten free vegan chocolate chip pancake was disappointing and borderline inedible. It was tough and tasted like corn...not even like chocolate despite there being chocolate chips in the pancake. My fiance ordered a burger. He wasn't impressed with the patty and stated a beyond or impossible would have been better. The fresh cut fries he ordered with the burger were perfect and some of the best you can get in town.Overall, some items on the menu are better than others. I would recommend the owner review their menu and change some of the items. The patties on the burgers were ok. Beyond or impossible patties are better. The gluten free pancake tasted like a bad corn bread that was over baked. I would recommend revisiting the batter and making some updates.I gave 3 stars because the staff was great and some of the dishes are awesome.
