Stayed 2nights, 3days with a wedding party. Rooms were clean and updated with the basic amenities! Website, however needs to be updated. Breakfast buffet listed on website open until 11am. I went at 9:30 and it was closed. My family of four were quite disappointed with the front desk and ballroom service. We were a very considerate group that just wanted to hang out and reconnect with family but was told to leave by 11pm. Our group was charged for an extra 5days instead of the 3. We were told that our rooms would be close together but we were all spread out into all of the different wings, which is already difficult to navigate with the luggage.
The. Check-in was easy, staff was nice. Parking was taken out of the room deposit. $50 deposit and $15 for parking for one day/night. The room was nice. Bed was comfortable. Hair on wall in bathroom. They advertised shampoo, conditioner in bathroom. There was a dispenser in the shower but it was empty. The shampoo (and only shampoo) provided was the standard small 2 oz bottles. Vending machines were “out of stock.” Other than that, ok for the money. 3/5
My girlfriend and I spent three nights at the University place hotel and we loved it! The place was fresh and clean, the continental breakfast was good. However it was the staff and the service that they provided that we absolutely loved. They cleaned our room every day, they helped us find our way around town, and they even let us keep our bags there after we checked out so we could return our rental vehicle and and have a means of transportation to the airport via lyft.
Was a great experience, simple but clean. They were renovating during our stay but no issues whatsoever. Great breakfast too and cookies upon check in. Great for a portland get a way!
Friendly and helpful staff upon check-in. We stayed in a slightly dated but recently improved room during our stay. University Place seems to be working to greatly improve their decor and modernize parts of the hotel. Room was very clean, bed was comfortable and had no issues with noise as other previous reviews mentioned. Breakfast runs from 7-9 in the restaurant and was very enjoyable! Would recommend this place to anyone who wants an affordable stay, clean and quiet room with friendly staff and close proximity to downtown Portland. Would choose to stay here again on a return trip to the city.
We are currently staying here and non of us can sleep because it is SO LOUD!!! Walls are so thin you can hear the people talking in the other room, toilets can hardly flush, and stomping coming from right above our room!!! Me and my family are very disappointed in our stay!
Very good and cosy hotel in one of the best location of downtown close to a lot of restaurant and grocery stores and public transportstion with very nice and kind staffs.They also serve a very complete breakfast.
So easy to find this hotel when visiting Portland. Great location when visit Portland State University or the city as it is right in the Maxx light rail transit line. Staff are friendly and helpful. Rooms are older but large & very clean & beds are comfortable. The complimentary breakfast is awesome! Not just bread & cereal but hot eggs, bacon, potatoes, and French toast strips. I stayed at a Hilton recently where I didn't feel as well cared for!
From check-in to check out, every minute of our time in this hotel was great. The front desk staff was wonderful and extremely helpful. The room was lovely and spacious and the bed was very comfortable. Parking was right outside the door and it felt very safe, as did the whole neighborhood around the hotel. There are fantastic food trucks minutes from the hotel. The hotel's complimentary breakfast was delicious and the staff there was lovely too. Overall a fabulous experience.
I stayed at a nice and super clean comfort room. It had great hardwood floors (fantastic for my allergies) and an updated decor. Absolutely everything was neat and clean, all amenities in working order, and our stay was super pleasant!Parking is so convenient and affordable! Their location is close to public transport. The pool area is beautiful and a great nook to relax in leisure to read or chat with friends. It had a nice fitness room, and although we didn't take advantage of it I heard from another guest that their breakfast is great. For the price point I'd give them 5-stars, A++. Highly recommended!
