Pork burritos are literally a pile of pure grease. 100% unedible. They say that's how it is. Been eating pork burritos half my life and I disagree. Had to use 15 napkins as it dripped all over the table and clothes. Definitely don't eat one while in the car.
Super happy to have discovered this place today. The food was amazing and authentic. Reminded me of the food back home in California. I will definitely be back.
A classic St. John’s establishment. This place not only has an extensive and unique collection of (primarily) Mexican grocery items, but they also dish out some of the best tacos in Portland.Go for the burritos, stay longer for the fantastic selection of Mexican candy and pan dulce!
Unfortunately, I've had to change my five star review to a one star. We ordered our food and waited for about 30 minutes (after everyone after us got their food) to go ask when our food was going to be ready. They never put our order in! There was no apology for forgetting to make our food or even offering anything on the house and on top of it, guy begrudgingly took our order again.
I grew up in San Diego for the first 18 years of my life. Tienda Santa Cruz is the only Mexican restaurant in Portland that comes even close to authentic food. I've had everything here from carne asada tacos to tripe huarache... It's all so good. Glad to have them in St John's.
I always find all my mexican items I don't find at big chain stores . Dine in food is great. and pan dulce is good too.Friendly staff.
Good gravy, just go there and get a burrito, you won’t regret it.
Love the burritos with red sauce. No frills joint but always full so that should tell you something.
Super great burrito and all of the salsas are so delicious.
The first place to truly satisfy the Mexican food craving since moving here from the South. A bit chaotic inside when I went but well worth it.Edit: on a repeat visit I noticed a lot of flies in the bread case in the store section, gross!
