what's the story with the food rules? no outside food we were told after the fact, although there isn't signage. and the bartender threatened to "make us throw it out." it's really nice to be able to order cool beers and bring in some cool food. and would have led to us hanging out longer and ordering more beer. (you can read other comments about the in-house offerings.)
This place is great!!! I loved all the ciders and seltzers on tap. Got the most colorful flight I’ve ever seen.
I have really enjoyed The Growler Guys in the past. Good beer selection and tasty food. I do have a problem when I walk in 15 minutes before closing and I'm told there is no food available. I would expect a place that serves food would keep, I'm assuming an overly simple, kitchen open right up until closing. If only to get something to go.I have a feeling that is not the owners direction to close up early but rather the closing staff's call to get out of there earlier. Either way, there are a lot of other choices in the neighborhood and along the streetcar line.Owners/managers, maybe you should talk with your staff.I'm out.
Fun place to try new beers with an optional snack.
Great place to have a drink or pick up a crowler to go. They have a surprising number of vegetarian and vegan options for food and the staff is very helpful and patient when selecting beers.
Food: kind of awfulBeer: greatGood place to watch sports on TV and have a beer.Suggestion: should ditch everything on the food menu except for like, 1 or 2 things you can pull off well.... Like just sausages and pretzels. It's all frozen, toaster oven heated stuff. I'm almost certain they don't have a fryer. If they do it's a little dinky thing and they certainly didn't use if for our frickles which were mushy.
Whoa! VEGAN food and STOUTS! HOLY HELL! Idk what it is about almost all beer places only carrying IPAs or light beers but thank God this place has some variety. Also the beer to go selection was really good in terms of actual craft beer not just ten different IPAs.
The whole experience was super lackluster. The staff seemed like they would rather be anywhere else but there. We ordered our beers (ok selection) and some food. The “beer battered” fries were plain freezer fries that were pale and floppy when they came out to the table. I had ordered a bratwurst and what I received could only be described that loosely. The bun was fine but the brat itself was pale, chewy and the casing was difficult to get through. The sides were chips, which is ok but the ones we got were stale and it was obviously the bottom of the bag. Very disappointed after we spent almost $40 on bad cafeteria food.
Always love it here! Great selection for everyone, even ppl who don't care for beer. Plus, the owner is awesome and they really try to bring in the Community.
Stopped in today to use a Growler Guy gift card gifted to me. Clearly the card had funds available. However I was denied use of the gift card. Total discrimination! I was thinking about not taking the items poured after all the trouble but I'm a much better person than them!! Missed the point of why went here for drinks!!
