One of the best bars I’ve been too. Drinks and food were great! Even the bartender Katie was fantastic and the nicest person to chat with! Five stars from me - I’ll be coming back for sure. ????
Finally decided to write a review about this neighborhood local haunt. First off the bartenders are amazing the food is excellent and the drink selection is killer. Second the atmosphere and music remind me of an old establishment called Blackheart. And finally they have a sneaker brunch on weekends. This is a place I see myself becoming a regular at.Update- had dinner here as well the other night, it was bloody amazing. Also big +++‘s for the huge whiskey selection
Unique food and unique drinks. Katie was our bartender and she was amazing! Very personable. Good date night spot without being pretentious. We enjoyed the music as well. Tomato grilled cheese was a hit!
The Cavern is one of those Portland places that looks like a hole in the wall bar but turns out to have top notch drinks and food. Sad I hadn’t been here sooner but so glad to have found it. Zoey was an amazing bartender and waiter. Kudos to everyone involved.
Amazing unique inventive food, dark lighting, great music, the most beautiful random plates, cheap food and drinks. What more can you ask for. This place is incredible. You will not be disappointed.
Fantastic food, awesome bartenders, and great music. Always have a lovely time and leave looking forward to the next visit! 5 stars and A+!
Very friendly staff and unexpectedly amazing food. I love the atmosphere here and their drinks are mixed perfectly
This is a great little corner bar with friendly staff, good drink selections, and excellent food. What more can you ask for?
I'm a fan of dark little hidey holes like this! Our visit to The Cavern was a spontaneous after dinner stop on one of our Saturday night adventures, to grab a couple quick drinks before meeting up with a friend across town. After browsing the food menu, I suddenly regretted eating elsewhere, as there were several tempting choices calling out to me, meaning a return visit in the near future is highly likely. We snagged an open booth, and while deliberating over our order, which I'd assumed we'd have to approach the bar to place, the bartender came to us and took our order. I didn't catch his name, but he was engaging, friendly, sociable and helpful, and assisted my wife, who is currently pregnant, in coming up with a spicy, grapefruit-based virgin cocktail that could easily masquerade as the real thing. I kept it basic and stuck with my go-to drink, a "Plain Old Fashioned", as it is called on the menu, but us true connoisseurs know, is anything but.Somehow simultaneously dark, sultry and rugged, the Cavern has carved out a space in my mind as a sexy secret sanctuary where a spirit-swilling spelunker can sequester on a Saturday night!
The Cavern is the kind of place I want to become a regular at, even though I don’t live in the neighborhood. The staff are just lovely and friendly folks, and the best secret is their Sunday brunch which is the perfect execution of the classics. Self serve refillable coffee, crispiest breakfast potatoes, and just the right amount of options on the brunch menu for a tired Sunday brain to choose from.
