Really lovely. This German food was not heavy at all; rather, the beet rübesalat was light and refreshing on a warm night. Schnitzel was balanced well by the sides. Definitely get some of the house mustard... it bites back!
An amazing neighborhood spot! Great service & tasty German food!
This is probably my favorite and what I regard as the best German place in Portland. It does everything very well.If you want to have a weird authentic drink then order some of "diesel". It is hefeweizen and coke put together. An adult root beer float. All the pickled vegetables were sour and crisp.
I love a theme and enjoyed the German vibes in the food and decor. Lots of beers to choose from. Vegan options were very limited as far as I could tell but the menu wasnt very descriptive. My partner got the pork schnitzel and it was HUGE so I would make sure your hungry if you're planning on trying it. He said it tasted good but it was really dry and could have benefited from some sauce or gravy. If german food is your thing this would be a great place to try.
Rabbit ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐- but be careful of bonesGoulash ⭐⭐⭐- typical, super meaty though, prefer the one at swiss hybiscusCheese board ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐- the pate was AMAZINGPretzel ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐- genuinely loved every dipApple strudel ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Classic German bar in a great setting. Had a great experience here. Ample seating indoors and out are managed well with friendly and efficient service staff. Had a charcuterie board, beer cheese pretzel, and a few half liters of beers. Will become a regular spot!
We enjoyed our stay, the beers are tasty, the atmosphere is chill, and offers a comfortable sit down. The service was mediocre as our food took roughly 40 minutes or more to serve. The food was fairly mediocre and pretty expensive. The schnitzel didn’t have much flavor and did not come with any substantial side. I think I enjoyed the beers more than the main course.
By far the best German pub in town. It's a little bit on the smaller side but has a lot of room at the bar and never feels super crowded. They even have some really nice outside seating. Beers on tap are classics you can't do with out. The food is some of the best in the city and at a price that doesn't make your worried to try new things!
Pub atmosphere with German food you won't find at the chain spots. Fully German beer (bier) list and cocktail menu, sharable small and medium plates, and of course the typical big plate staples like jagerschnitzel and German sausages. They now have covered, heated outdoor seating as well as their traditional bar top and indoor tables. Highly recommend for a small group or a date night.
We had the Rabbit and the stuffed ravioli both delicious and wait staff was on time! All boxes were checked great time. Thanks. These are their most popular dishes and we both just happen to pick them. Just amazing!
