Southland Whiskey is a good spot for BBQ. The pulled pork is very tasty. We had it on the smothered fries, which also came with delicious coleslaw, bbq sauce & pickles. The roasted artichoke was odd but flavorful. You get two huge whole artichokes. For our main course we had the Nashville chicken tenders and waffle (the waffle was a $4 add on & you only got half a waffle, which was not $4 good). The chicken was cooked perfectly. Unfortunately the rest of the dish was nothing special. We also had the Bourbon roasted salmon. This was a delicious entree! The salmon was amazing, the garlic mashed potatoes were great, & the roasted brussel sprouts were also very tasty!I'll be back to try more of the BBQ meats and sides!

I was awfully disappointed by the entire experience at Southland. Came for a double bday dinner for our nieces, one is extremely picky so I sent her their online menu in advance to see if she would be happy with this choices— only to arrive and the menu is completely different! My adult niece ended up ordering off the children’s menu.Speaking of kids, we had reservations for 8 people, 3 happen to be children. When we arrived they LOUDLY proclaimed that Bc of the children they would have to make us sit in a location that wasn’t what they’ve already set up— they then forced a table of adults to MOVE to a new table at the front of the restaurant so we could be in the back— and then 2 of them were caught by me and 2 others of our party talking terrible things about ‘all the children that will be there’ and how ‘horrible and loud they were sure the would be’ in the hallway by the bathroom. They had no idea we were standing behind them waiting for the restroom, as they made these insanely rude and tasteless assumptions of the children who had yet to arrive. They were extremely standoffish and provided lackluster service.

Nice food and drinks!Food could be a bit warmer and potatoes and Mac n cheese could use more cheese sauce.Service was fast and attentive. The atmosphere is also charming and cozy. Closing hours seem to be variable though so check ahead of time.

Can't believe I haven't been here before ???We had the salmon board and cornbread appetizers, I had the fried chicken and my husband had smoked brisket and pulled pork with coleslaw and augratin potato sides.Everything was perfectly prepared and so delicious, simply put it's mouthwatering!!Extra kudos if you know how they pickle their green beans... and can tell me!!! Because I could eat about a million of those tasty little beans every day!! Such good food, we'll definitely be going back for more!!

I cant review the drinks as I had carry out order. The staff was nice and accommodating and the spot seemed like it had potential to be a really nice place to eat.... until you get to the food. The mac and cheese was more like a potatoes au gratin, and my Midwestern mother would be crying for what you did to those poor potatoes. The corn bread unfortunately was so very dry.... like there was potential that some honey and butter to salvage it but come on corn bread is easy.... special trip just to get some BBQ and never in my life have i taken a bite of pulled pork and brisket that was so over cooked and dry that physically struggled to swallow. Please for the love of god temp your brisket and you will never go wrong..... and I'm all about second chances but to whomever cooked the pork... cooking might not be the industry for you. I'm sorry, but please stop.

The food is pricey and over spiced. I was so excited for the cornbread, but the menu does not let you know they put jalapeños in it. The live music is great, but it is a little too loud, makes it hard to hear the people at your table. A little disappointed…

Great place. Live music at night Thursday-Saturday too

So overall the food is good though a little expensive for the quality. $20 for shrimp and grits seems a bit high. But the collared greens are really good.My big issue was with the bone marrow. They charged $15 for (4) bones with marrow and 3 of the came out without any marrow. The manager asked if we would like another order. Stupidly I said yes, when he brought the second order out he says, “It looks like the burnt the marrow off of these too. sorry” and walked away. Like it’s one thing making a mistake, but when you bring the second order out with the same issue that’s just incompetence.

We went for lunch. It is not a light lunch but we were famished and Southland was perfect. The brisket was excellent as was my wife's salad with pulled chicken. The service was prompt but not rushed at all. The live musician played a lot of vintage Dylan "Blood on the Tracks" songs that were loud enough to hear and appreciate - the volume was just right.

While being fairly new to the area and searching for a place to be a regular at, Southland was my first stop, and coincidentally, my last stop. From excellent food, personable and welcoming staff, to an atmosphere that I find unrivaled in the area, this place is my go to and has rapidly evolved into a second home. I find myself sharing filling meals with friends, having great conversations with staff, finding a muse for writing in solitude, and expanding my self proclaimed talent as a whiskey aficionado. Some of the best selection anywhere in Portland. If you're looking for a quick bite, or a long evening in good company, look no farther.
