Came with my wife and daughter for Sunday brunch. The places was packed which was good sign. It was about a 10-15 min wait and we got a call when the table was ready. The staff was super friendly. The orders and paid for in your phone. The food was…ok. My daughter and I got the chicken and waffles. The waffles were really good. The “chicken” patty was a little dry and the tasted ok. Mostly salty which went well with the syrup, I guess. The coffee and a little burnt but drinkable. It was over all an enjoyable experience and maybe we would come again and try something different on the menu but only if my wife and daughter wanted to. But I don’t think we would with all the different vegan places to eat in Portland. This was our first time here at this establishment.
Vegan comfort food that's pretty good without being too heavy (at least my meal wasn't). I had the country chicken (?) with a few sides (collards, beets and grits), all quite good. The ordering app caused me problems because I didn't have a US zip code to pay. More hassle than necessary but the friendly young man took my order instead. Busy area with a patio out front that's good for people watching. Overall I really enjoyed it.
3.5 star food! And the servers seemed really nice and awesome. However, I didn’t really get a chance to know them because the place is set up so that you order and pay through QR code. It’s more of a impersonal fast food vibe, where I kinda felt like I was just hanging out in someone else’s space. . Probably wouldn’t go back. But maybe worth ordering to go for those who enjoy that .
Looove dining with these great folks! <3 the food is so crave worthy and mouth watering. The chick’n and waffles- addicting. I don’t know how they make the chicken but wow, so good. Pancakes- fluffy and delicious. Brunch burrito- amazing. I love the variety of options both food and drink and overall cozy vibe. Thank you sxnw!
Outstanding chick n and fries sandwich. The chick n wings were great. The weekend brunch was outta this world. Chicken n waffles, collard greens ( very tasty), grits, and sausage. The service is top notch. Staff wears masks.
I’m not kidding when I say this place is my new favorite restaurant. Everything is delicious, staff is super friendly and accommodating, fantastic creative drinks (as a vegan I don’t normally get to have creative drinks with cream or foam, etc), literally the BEST pancakes I’ve ever had (better than any non vegan pancakes I’ve had in my life, hands down). They have heaters for outside seating, nice inside seating and a bar area. Amazing southern comfort food too. I’m in awe!!! Thank you guys for being here!!! I will be coming for my birthday brunch ??? and as much as I can ???
Don’t get me wrong the food was great. We had the chikn waffle and the country fried steak.. The wait wasn’t long, and the seating was outdoors and very prettyI felt uncomfortable with how some of the staff treated me while I was out with my friend. Our waiter didn’t really acknowledge me. I was ignored most of the time I was here.I’m black and my friend isn’t, so i felt more uneasy about this whole interaction. We didn’t finish our food and left. It didn’t seem like we were welcomed.I rarely post reviews of any sort. I wanted to share so I can hopefully prevent other black people from having a similar experience
We love Cycle Dogs in Seattle and when the owner opened South x Northwest in Portland we were excited to check it out. What a fantastic dinner experience we had on Saturday evening. We tried the fried mushrooms, chicken wings, & chips and queso as appetizers. Following that we had fried chicken sandwiches with fries. Every bite was delicious! To complement the food, a very talented bar manager made the most unique beverages we've ever experienced. Everything was so good we returned on Sunday to try the much praised Brunch. Oh my goodness! We tried the bottomless pancakes with blueberry compote, chicken and waffle, brussel spouts, cheddar grits, collard greens, and sausage: all homemade. Even if you do not usually eat plant-based food, you cannot go wrong at SxNW!
Unequivocally the best vegan pancakes my partner or I have ever tried. Absolutely a must try for anyone. The breakfast burrito left something to be desired. The scramble was a little too mushy, without enough flavor.
Time after time after time, every single thing I’ve tried here is just exceptional. Brunch is a must. The bottomless pancakes are this intoxicating elixir of fluffy, crispy, sweet, and slightly salty. Mouthgasm. Omg ?
