This place is amazing. There are so many lovely house made chocolate options available and they are all fantastic. The drink chocolate is the absolute best treat you can give yourself, hands down. The marionberry pie I picked up during this visit was wonderful. I also got a chocolate bar to enjoy later. The prices are extraordinarily reasonable and the varieties are always rotating so every visit is a new experience. It is quickly becoming a habit to swing by whenever I'm in the neighborhood. So far, it's been quiet each time. I fully recommended getting in on this place before it becomes too popular with lines around the block.

Unique chocolate cafe with friendly, knowledgeable staff

Always a great experience! The staff and owner are all friendly and helpful. The quality and kind of offerings seem unique to this spot: single origin, made and processed in house, full bakery in the back to hand-make everything, etc. I’m fairly regular, so I may be a little biased, but it’s always a great experience. Even if they’re out of something, it’s understandable since they make everything on site and fresh—but they always have something as a good alternate. In addition to the chocolate, they have a full espresso bar so it’s also a full coffee shop. Great seating, quiet and a good spot to chill and get some work done. From my perspective—they’re a small business, owned by a Portlander, doing their best to add value in an unique way (not just coffee or just chocolate) but still niche in terms of quality.

Great hot chocolate with almond milk. They have dairy free. Great service. You can get chocolate bars and pastries, other things. Worth stoping in. Indoor seating, restroom also.

A friend who spends more time in this neighborhood than I do was kind enough to introduce me to the Roste experience. I don't frequent coffeehouses, so Roste was the closest I've come in Portland to the boutique beverage and pastry interludes that I've had in Europe.Forgive me for starting with the pastries, but they were my biggest unexpected delight here. Made in-house, the Marionberry Strudel and the Chocolate Tart were served slightly warmed, and provided the kind of comfort food experience that makes a cafe visit special. As for the chocolate drinks, they offer a small pure chocolate option, a 50-50 (I believe) chocolate and milk beverage, and both regular and Mexican hot chocolate choices that, despite having even more milk added, manage to be the richest versions I've ever experienced. The employees here were friendly, masked, and very helpful. The space is large enough that we were able to keep a very comfortable distance from everyone else.

If you're interested in the equivalent of a cafe that roasts their own coffee in house, but for chocolate, you should like Roste. I typically get the cafe mocha, sometimes with a marshmallow, all of which is made in house. You can see the flecks of black from the vanilla bean they used in the marshmallows. The only thing I've gotten that I disliked was an orange and chocolate baked good, but I'm confident that was just a matter of personal preference. The products are often less sweet than similar chocolate based foods, which highlights the chocolate flavor, but is also worth asking about if you like things sweeter.

Sip chocolate from Indonesia ~ was pretty good. I would have preferred a plain single source dark chocolate with no additions

Stumbled on this gem while walking around the Pearl district with my sister, and I'm so glad we stopped in. Haven't found many locations specializing in sipping chocolate. Their drinks are definitely meant to be savored slowly, and are perfect for lingering over during a long conversation. The Mexican hot chocolate was spicy and complex. I also tried the sipping chocolate with a little hot milk added. It was rich, flavorful, and intense. Their baked goods were tasty, but the drinks were really the highlight. Presentation was superb as well -- the drinks came on a little wooden tray with a small dish of whipped cream and a glass of seltzer as a palate cleanser. Definitely recommend giving it a try!

One of a kind chocolate shop. Love the two distinct flavors of hot chocolate that we got. Very cozy ambience. It’s a great place to get chocolate, coffee and dessert.

Chocolate is good but they misrepresent the sizes. Remember Zoolander? That's the size of the hot chocolates they offer you, hot chocolate for ants. Literally ~2 oz of chocolate and for the price, it's definitely not worth it.They get 2 stars because the mocha is the only drink that is not misrepresented, then again its basic coffee with their hot chocolate mixed.List the sizes of your cups, stop misdirecting people into thinking they will be getting a regular, normal cup of chocolate.Pastries are amazing though, but I will not be coming back. You have insulted chocolate fans such as myself.
