Legit biscuits and let me tell you that chicken fried steak is legit too. In fact, 2 legit 2 quit. Hand cut and pounded, then they bread it just right with some panko, but not so much that it ruins the breakfast flavor. The gravy? It's rad too. They could easily be Pine State Gravy's, it's that good. Get the mushroom gravy, even if you don't like mushrooms. I don't care for mushrooms, but I get it every time after having tried both, the other being sausage. The sausage gravy is rad too, but the mushroom gravy is a grand slam of awesomeness. The rotating choice of local coffee roasters makes each visit unique even if you order the same food each time. This has to be my favorite breakfast joint when I visit Portland. I will arrange my travel so I am able to eat here at least once when I come down from Olympia.
My husband and I got here a little after 10 AM on Sunday. There was a line out the door, but we decided to wait since we weren't in a rush. It was about a half hour wait, which isn't the worst because you would easily wait double that time for brunch in NYC. Once you get inside, you order/pay at the counter and then they bring the food to your table. The wait for the food was a little crazy. We waited 40 minutes! There was a couple who sat down maybe about 15- 20 minutes after us but they still got their food before we even did. This definitely made it a not so great experience, but the food is actually pretty good. Here is what we ordered:Reggie Deluxe (fried chicken, bacon and Tillamook cheddar topped with gravy and a fried egg) - I don't normally love biscuits but this was really good. The gravy was nice and flavorful. But I'm glad we shared this because I could see myself getting sick of eating this. It's a pretty heavy dishHash Ups (golden hash browns with grilled onions, mushrooms and melted cheese) - you can opt to add meat but we decided not to. Although this was a bit greasier than most hash browns, it was still really good. It could have used some more mushrooms and cheese. This is another dish meant for sharingRed Velvet Pop Tart - they have homemade pop tarts that rotate, so you just need to ask what they have available. We had the red velvet one, which was a little too sweet for meOverall, the food is good but I'm not sure if it's worth all that waiting.

the biscuits and gravy are perfection. everything else is great as well.
They really do make their biscuits from scratch. Watched while I ate and they are delicious!!
Food was fresh and hot! Even during the weekday at about lunch time this place is packed so you know you're in for a treat! You can watch them make the biscuits so you know they're made fresh daily in house. So good!!
A good place to stop by for breakfast! We've ordered a couple of biscuits filled with bbq pork and one with vegetarian options. Hot beverages were also great too! Staff was great and the place looked vibrant!
3 stars is generous today; while they took the order quickly for a hash-up and a side of chicken/gravy/eggs, we sat for 35 minutes before half the order showed up, wrong one, then fixed it 5 minutes later and showed up with correct order but unfortunately not particularly appetizing. Gravy showed up at 45 minutes, chicken and eggs at 50 minutesI’ve been to Pine State on NE Alberta and SE Division and food is usually up within 10 minutes. Very surprising, looks like they need to work the kinks out of the order process. Also, the back door does not close and cold air was filling the dining room when the wind was blowing. Would be smart to fix that. To their credit, they offered a refund but it’s not about the money. I recommend trying one of their other restaurants.
Just so good. I love their mushroom gravy sauce. Scone was soft and the chicken was so juicy. Special blend coffee with Coava was good as well. My favorite go-to eat place is in Portland. So satisfied.
I love the location, the menu and the option to sit outside. I don't mind the counter ordering or the clearing of my own table but not a 5/5 as the biscuit was a bit dry as were the potatoes. However, the food was hot, fairly quick and good.
