Great veg options-get the buffalo drums. Good service.
Despite having few customers, we were unattended for a long time, they forgot to bring out our drinks, and they mixed up a simple substitution my partner asked for. The food was gluten free and vegetarian, which means the bacon is faux and so are the eggs -- don't be surprised when you arrive! The savory dish was good, but I'd say the sweet waffle was where they shined. Neither my partner nor I am GF, so I'd say this place was a good one-off for us. I imagine it is a GF gem!Update: oof. I posted too soon. They took a long time to get the check to us, and when they did, they charged my partner extra for something that came with the dish. When we asked about it, they assured us it was an additional charge. We peeked at the menu on the way out and were right -- they had overcharged us. It really felt like the restaurant was under supervision of brand new staff.
This is the worst food I've had in years. I've never tasted gross tofu scramble before now. The worst vegan cheese I've tasted. They just dump oregano and black pepper on everything. The hollandaise tastes like artificial lemon. The food was greasy and gelatinous. Disgusting.
Great service, great food. Recommended.
If you've ever wanted to eat spaghetti for breakfast, get the meatloaf benedict - it tastes like meatballs soaked in spaghetti sauce. If that's not a flavor you're expecting though, your brain will hate every bite, guaranteed.
it's awesome! No other words are needed
Good options for all kind of vegans ! It’s more of a diner than a restaurant which is good in its own way !3/13 - UpdateIt’s even better now. We got the NashvilleHot sandwich and it’s my favorite sandwich from now on. Also the full mess plate is a filling with biscuits, gravy, hash brown and sausage. The service was fast, but due to Sunday we had to wait for 20 minutes for our table.
Cute little diner to check and we didn't wait long to be seated, since we sat at the bar. I ordered the Chk'n Waffles with country gravy and the portion was pretty big as I wasn't able to finish it all. So depending on your hunger level, you could probably share this with your partner/friend. The flavors were a bit lacking in regards to the faux chicken, and unfortunately, as well as the country gravy. The service was very friendly, but when it gets busy, don't expect a fast refill on your coffee.
This place really does live up to the hype! We ordered the berries + cream waffle, breakfast burrito, vegan drumsticks, biscuits & gravy, and brisket sandwich. The drumsticks were our favorite-soooo good. The only thing we would not order again is the biscuits & gravy and that’s simply because I’m not a huge fan of mushrooms and the gravy tasted mushroomy to me.
Off the Griddle is Off the Charts with the most creative flavorful year round vegan brunch menu in Portland. To name one of these unique brunch items, I'm stoked to devour the walnut meatloaf on a GF biscuit topped with a tofu scramble smothered in cheese sauce!!! Occasionally there's a wait to get seated, nothing too extensive, but once ordered they are quick on the griddle to get ya fed. The food texture and flavor reflects their name, the dishes have a hot off the griddle crisp crunch. They have top notch common vegan brunch items too: waffles, biscuits, tofu scramble. Check out their menu, you'll wish you were there with a hot plate of Off the Griddle goodness!
