Best vegetarian burritos in town! One of my favorite places. Always amazing, truly the best Mexican vegetarian options available in Portland
I feel like we just discovered a well kept secret! Been pretty disappointed in a lot of Mexican foods in Portland, but this was legit. The kids loved their bean burritos, and my vegan fajita plate was amazing! Even the black beans had good flavor; everything did. And, oh yeah, the margaritas! Go check it out.
Tasty torta. The meat and vegetables were cooked nicely with a slight char. The presentation and side sauces were excellent. The asada could be a bit chewy and the portions are somewhat small but they're packing a lot of flavor in there. The female server made me feel unwelcomed, the gentleman server and owner/manager(?) were most kind.
I'm writing this review while I angrily eat a burrito from Nayar. It's not helping. The food's decent and the salsa is good, but the service is so uniquely awful it reminds me of the punchline in a show I wouldn't find funny. After trying to change my order from pinto to black beans, the person taking my order (owner/manager I surmise) shook their head in such abject frustration that I stuck to black beans and told them it was okay. I tipped 20% because they said they were understaffed, and I get it, that's stressful. I waited maybe 30 minutes in an empty restaurant as food stacked up on the bar. And as I went to get my order, I was asked if I wanted salsa. I asked for four reds for two burritos and was met with incredulity. Okay, so I settled for two reds. The same person that got mad while taking our order said "and I'll give you two greens." I asked for more, and they angrily refused without charging me an undisclosed amount (there's unlimited salsa on the tables). ?????????Also, they have a credit card surcharge that isn't indicated anywhere. ALSO, their online menu has a burrito called "all beans matter." I should have known better.Never going backEdit: The responses from the management appear to be auto-generated, because this one popped up almost immediately. Sad to see they’re not truly concerned about doing better.
Food is always amazing and the girl KAYLA who works at the counter is even better. Never had a bad experience after coming for the last couple months. Thank you Kayla and thank you to this restaurant :)
Every time I would get the chicken tinga burrito and it tasted like heaven on earth. My mouth waters just from thinking about it. I would have left 5 stars but when I went to order it I noticed the worlds worst tragedy. It is not on the menu anymore.
Really delicious Mexican food here. I've been a number of times and brought many others and everyone has loved what they've eaten. My hubby and I are vegan and it is so easy with the vegan/vegetarian menu that they have. Everyone has been super nice that has helped us and they have bomb margs! We will continue to come here as our fave Mexican spot in Portland!
I have no complaints, it's great every time. My partner and I moved here from Phoenix and we were hurting for really good Mexican food. We went to many spots in PDX, but when we finally found Nayar we haven't gone elsewhere. We go at least every other week and have tried to increase that during COVID because we would be devastated if they (like so many of our fav spots) were to close due to pandemic strain. I highly recommend the fish tacos and the bean and cheese burrito and my partner recommends the chicken mole burrito. You won't be disappointed! It's delish and reasonably priced.
Adorable and clean, modern little hole in the wall on Foster. Staff was incredibly nice, even though it was an 'order at the counter and sit'. Had the fajitas which were amazing. Reasonably priced. Definitely worth trying out!
Worst Mexican food restaurant experience. I ordered 4 tacos to go, paid upfront and tipped them. When my order was ready I simply asked if I could get a slice of lime, she went to ask the kitchen, then comes back and tells me it would be an extra charge!! seriously for a piece of lime? I said no thank you. Never coming back to this place. The tacos were ok but small. People pay over $3 for a taco and they can't even give you a piece of lime?? Crazy!
