It’s my birthday. My husband and I just moved to Portland, OR from Miami, FL and were recommended this place for gator! When we asked how long it would take to be seated we were told it wouldn’t be long for a party of two and could sit at the bar. An hour later we went in to check and the bar was empty. I asked about the bar and the hostess told us we’re up next and to wait a little longer for them to clear a table. A party of three came in shortly after and in 20 mins later they had a table for them. When we asked about why it was 20 mins for three but over an hour for two the hostess told us she didn’t didn’t have our names, but I saw it at the bottom of the list with our phone number. I guess we got skipped, or maybe some one else showed up and claimed to be us. Eventually we got seated, but sadly they were out of gator.I gave it 4 stars still because the food was great! It somewhat makes up for having to wait 1.5 hours on my birthday to be seated, and missing out on the thing I came for. The seafood boil was really good and I got a free King Crab for my special day. My husband is really picky but he enjoyed the boil as well! I’d like to go back and try their hush puppies and catfish, and hopefully snag some gator tail.
My brother and I decided to come in on a whim before a concert and we were so happy that we did. We ordered so much food. The bacon wrapped quail, the fried soft shell crab, and the alligator bites were the perfect amount to share between us. We got a snow crab boil and I've had crab before but this was heavenly. I absolutely recommend getting a French roll and making a little bit of roll and crab. It's perfect. The wait staff was so kind and had our backs on things we weren't sure about. (Like eating the soft shell crab whole, absolutely recommend) I can't wait to bring my husband in and try it next!
Excellent service. I loved how they greet and say goodbye to everyone who came in.❣️They sit down next to you when you are ordering your food too. The music and overall vibes were awesome. I really enjoyed our visit yesterday. We went for our birthday ???
Food was great however extremely expensive. Other establishments we spend roughly 60 per person. I really don't like the automatic 18% gratuity for parties over 5 mainly because service is severely diminished. Our waitress checked on us once and that was while we were waiting to leave. We asked a different waitress for refills and we got one cup of water. I've found that whenever gratuity is added for somewhat larger parties, the waitress/waiter no longer feels the need to provide service because they get tipped no matter what. Enjoy that $60 tip for poor service.
My first time eating here. The seafood boil was good. The catfish could have used a bit more seasoning and the shrimp po boy was "mah".
My husband and I ate here for his birthday. It was such a fun experience. He was given a free whole Dungeness Crab for his birthday ($45 gift) to go with our additional crab and Shrimp. The drinks were so good and boozy, the cornbread was delicious. The crab cakes were good.... not the best I had but still good. The food came out piping hot, our server was a complete gem. The music was on point. I will definitely come back again. This time, we'll make reservations for a party of 6, and get our grub on. Highly recommend this establishment
Its been so long since we've been to MBC, and I mean long ago. I realized that the location moved just across within the plaza.I ordered togo because based off their IG stories / posts, they've been busy af. No regrets there. ( I heard the waits were 1hr long... eek!)I don't recall what the flavor was like back in the day, but here we are, the present now & its delicious! I ordered 4lbs of Spicy, and 4lbs of mild.P.s the artwork outside of the restaurant is on point!
Me and my husband went with our kiddos ?Had a good time, can be expensive but food is worth it ??We got the Sea boil that was so delicious ? we ordered it medium but personally ill do spicy next time.Definitely going back! ?
Great service, fresh food. We had deep fried alligator, calamari, fresh oyster, fried oyster and Dungeness crab, mussel broil, white and dirty rice. We enjoyed it so much!!!! We love our server she was accommodating and recommended places to visit. Definitely, when we visit portland again. We will eat there again.
Good but pricey! I am from Vancouver, Canada and thought that our seafoods are way pricier than others. We ordered the bowl of shrimp & clams. Nothing spectacular but for sure I like Captain’s Boils soices better. For ourcalamari they added spices and stiff that do not enhance its flavour. We tried the soft shelled crab which I believe is the priciest I’ve seen for $11. It has greens that do not elevate the presentation nor its flavour profile.
