My second time eating here. I want to try almost everything on the menu. The food is so good and fresh here and it doesn't leave you feeling like garbage afterwards.

The energy of Mestizo is one of a kind and all the dishes are packed with the flavor of love. Woman and BIPOC owned, is enough to gain my support. Thank you for bringing this gem to Portland and providing unmatched service.
Mestizo makes sense awesome food. I ordered for take out to share with my brother so I got a few different menu items that looked tasty. The frijoles was probably my favorite dish that I ordered I really like mushrooms so I go the mushroom version. The mixture of soft sweet flavors and strong citrus flavors with just a little bit of spice for flavor was an excellent experience. I also ordered an Elote which was quite tasty. I don't mind restaurant prices but if I did have a single complaint it would be that while the elite was good its also $8 for an ear of corn (with delicious sauce & a little bit of cheese on it). Overall the food was spectacular & I was hungry so I didn't get a chance to snag any pictures.
I love everything about Mestizo. Woman and AAPI owned. Incredible staff. Welcoming space and ambiance. Beautiful outdoor sitting. Great mocktails and cocktails. And everything on the menu is delicious. Nan, the owner even hosts pop ups for local bipoc entrepreneurs and chefs. Highly recommend ?
The food was colorful and flavorful. Both my husband and I loved the Beyond Meat empanadas and the fish tacos. Loved that they were gluten free. The mezcal cocktails were delicious too.
I did not expect to enjoy the food as much as I did! We got the beyond meat empanadas and banana flower tacos and they were *so delicious.* my favorite part was the La sonrisa drinks. The elote was also delicious. The chips and guacamole was good, but generic, so I would recommend the Yuca fries instead. Really good food
Great food and Ambience. The Vegan and the non-vegan food options were unique and the location added to the charm! Will definitely visit again. The Yucca fries and the Empanadas are worth going for light snacking too.
Phenomenal Mexican food. Not just the standard beans, cheese and rice combo thats at literally every other Mexican joint. I got the fish tacos, then I went back for the fish tacos again, then I went back again for them, needless to say I recommend the fish tacos with queso. There's a vegan option of them as well that my partner got that's just as delicious if you're not into fish.Slowly been making my way through the appetizers and all of them are delicious, I'll update what my favorite is once I get through them all!Stop looking for a place and go here!
The atmosphere at mestizo is awesome! I love the decor, bar and dining area in general. I think the restaurant is quite cozy and it’s fun to sit inside the restaurant and chill. However I think the food is pretty overpriced and the quality is very mediocre. I think if the menu had something new to offer and the food lived up to the price and decor this place would be highly recommended.
