Very good place....friendly serice specially for the people to try ethiopian yummy foods

Merkato used to be a great place to buy spices, fluffy Ethiopian bread, but today, Merkato has become a place where you get ripped off. Jacking up prices when ever they want to.No prices labeled on the merchandises you buy there so they can charge you when ever and whatever they want. The waiting also has been a serious problem.

i am OBSESSED with the mitmita i got from here. its a very spicy blend of seasonings that goes with anything and ive been basically eating it like candy since i bought it. if i could compare it to anything else ive had before itd be tajin in how addictive, tangy, spicy and savory it is while at the same time being distinctly different and unique. thanks guys for the suggestion.

02/05/2022,What a poor service and unacceptable waiting time for a cashier. I was there this morning to buy some groceries, and I had to wait more than 20 min for the cashier to arrive. The cashier left his area unattended and was chatting with the meat delivery section.I want Marka to realize that your customers have many choices; they can go somewhere else if you don't treat them well.

This place can easily get a 5 start but with slow service and less employees and more missing items I can’t give it 5 starsThey are perfect destination for vegans looking for tasty food but also their meet selection is amazing and taste so different and authenticThey didn’t have milk today but their cappuccino is usually the best

Nice little shop where you can find all Eritrean and Ethiopian traditional stuff

This is a great store with wonderful customer service! I walked about 3 miles from l downtown Portland to come and buy Ethiopian barley...and they had some in stock. A+++ ❤❤❤

Really nice people.

They don’t open on time

I've had Ethiopian food at other places but this one really hit all the marks. In non-Covid times, the sizable interior offered a relaxed ambiance and tasteful Ethiopian decor. If one wasn't "used to" eating in that particular sitting position or with those items, no judgement from waitstaff. They are efficient and friendly. The food is tasty and fresh w/o any pretension. The sides are balanced and everything is proportioned well. This could pass for a home-cooked meal. One bonus of eating here is that you could buy the actual exotic and rare ingredients used in the meals at the mini-grocer that also sells tourist knick-knacks.Parking is tricky. There are spaces in the back but only a few reserved for the restaurant and b/c of the Covid, only outdoor seating.
