BEWARE: service doesnt exist in here. Staff is not friendly at all. ?? If you wish to experience how does it feel when the restaurant stuff completely gave up servicing, try this one! If you wish to try dine-in in a camp, where everything is done by yourself, try this place! Delicious food, good portions and reasonable prices. The food is so yummy, that customers must ignore the lack of service.

The Chinese potstickers were great, the steamed dumplings, too. I would leave the jianbing, although other reviewers seem to rate it highly. The braised pork belly was disappointing as well, and the bathroom was very dirty. The service was excellent, the sauces too. Not a terrible experience, but not great. Would skip next time I'm in town.

Wow dude like wow. I haven’t even left the joint yet and i felt compelled to write this review. From the dude running FOH who was totally badass to the expedited dank dishes that were put before me.First came out the Jianbing. Soft, chewy, crunchy, and full of flavor ? ?Then, came the steamed buns and Pork belly over rice. Every flavor just danced around on my palette upon final chew, leaving me wanting more and more. The bun filling was a small pork meatball with tons of flavor and paired nicely with their sesame garlic sauce. Can we talk about the sesame garlic sauce real quick? It goes great on EVERYTHING and by itself. I bought a deli cup just for at home. Finally the dumplings, oh my god. Chewy, nuclear hot, and yet i still slammed every last one. Took really terrible photos only because i was busy slamming all of it into my face. Highly recommend.

Food heaven! I had a strong craving for xiaolongbao and this place hit the spot! We ordered xiaolongbao, jianbing, green onion pancakes, roast beef noodle soup, wonton noodle soup, and beef brisket soup. My favorites were definitely the xiaolongbao, green onion pancakes, and roast beef noodle soup! They were all super good with chili oil AH ???

This place was simply outstanding in every way! The food was as delicious and unpretentious as the people cooking it and the service was quick and humorous. The house made dumplings were succulent and delicate, the jianbing crispy and complex, the pan-fried onion cake was typical and quite good, and the roasted beef noodles, my favorite of all, were tender (both noodles and beef), spicy, and amazingly fragrant. What a treasure!

Master Kong's is hands down one of the best traditional Chinese restaurant's in PDX. A real hole in the wall, they focus on the fundamental comfort food dishes of northeastern Chinese cuisine, and nothing else. Run by what seems to be a family business, about 4 or 5 middle-aged Chinese women which traditionally growing up in Chinese culture I refer to them as 阿姨 or "Auntie" an endearing term to call elderly ladies running the night market street food stalls in Asia, which this place really reminds me of. Sure it's not the fanciest nor 'cleanest' establishment but that's when you know this place is the real deal. Other reviewers of non-Asian upbringing complain of the cleanliness and rude service but that's just how this place is, and everywhere else in Asia. You're here to eat the delicious homemade food, with no fuss whatsoever which just adds to the authenticity. Yes, there is a language barrier for non-Chinese speaking folks but you can't go wrong with anything on their short menu. We ordered the handmade pork dumplings 餃子, jianbing 煎餅 (rolled crepes), and beef brisket noodle soup 牛肉面. Everything was simply incredible. The filling of the dumplings are full of flavor and the wrappers thick and smooth. The jianbing were so thin and crispy with fresh cilantro and egg inside. The beef brisket falls apart in your mouth while the hand pulled noodles are perfectly al dente in texture. The broth was full of umami. The spice level is not spicy at all even for western palettes, so don't worry about the chili signs next to dishes. Hot tea is self-serve and unlimited. Black vinegar and chili oil dipping sauces are must haves. All-in-all a fantastic little gem. Super fast service, pricing was extremely reasonable for the portion sizes, and you can observe one of the ladies hand wrapping the steamed buns with the traditional roller and bamboo baskets. Plenty of street parking off the side streets. Will be back to try everything else on the menu!

The food is outstanding. We got the steamed buns, dumplings, steamed vegetables, mustard pork noodle soup and wonton noodle soup. Everything was amazing, but I especially recommend the handmade dumplings. Plus, the staff are lovely! Definitely go if you haven't yet.

Absolutely the best! Low key and chill atmosphere, amazing soup and dumplings. Bonus: their fried dough sticks are incredible! Do yourself a favor and go here. Like, a lot.

If I could leave a 10 star review I would. The food was out of this world delicious. The service was excellent and quick! We will be making Master Kong a regular stop when we are in Portland.

Definitely overrated. The bun is no better than frozen food from Asian groceries. The rice noodles are terrible. And the service is so bad.
