I was doing some work on the owners home. He brought me the best Bahn Mi sandwich I've ever had! So not only does this place have amazing food! It shows the character of the people that own it as well! Let me put it in comparison for you. It's rare that people will even offer you a drink of water like really rare let alone bring you lunch. I've been doing this for 20 years! I deal with on average 3 people a day and I've had a total of 5 people ever do this in that amount of time! Great food, great owner, good local place to support 100%
I went there for lunch recently and it was an unexpected surprise. The interior is very bright, clean and simple— and the menu is the same. I don’t know Vietnamese food at all, and it couldn’t have been easier. It was easy to choose our meals and feel confident we knew what we were getting. The server was very helpful at guiding us and the prices are very reasonable. We will be back soon!
My partner and I love this restaurant! The chicken pho is some of the best I’ve had…such comfort food! Paired with the charming ambiance of the 1908 traditional Portland building, nicely lit inside and out, the experience is pure comfort. ☺️ It’s appropriate for work meetings , friend outings or dates.
We had two different Bonmi’s, each with a small bowl of Pho. The beef sandwich and pho were both very good. I would definitely order those again. The chicken versions of both were okay, but neither seemed to have as many flavors going on as the beef. The interior is okay, but not air conditioned and felt a little stuffy. Staff was friendly even though they could have used another person helping.
This vegan pho is my favorite. I can't believe I haven't posted review because we've been coming here for years. I don't know how they marinate tofu but it's the best tofu you'll ever try. There's plenty of veggies and noodles as well. They are also very friendly :) Highly recommend!
Kelby welcomed us with his warm and friendly smile and set the tone for what was to come! I ordered the vegetarian pho and appreciated the flavorful broth and fresh, crisp veggies. The Singha was the perfect compliment to the savory noodle soup. This is a clean and simple restaurant that filled our tummies with delicious and healthy food! Come here out of the Portland rain to enjoy a warm and tasty meal!
Saw a review that this place had the best broth and I can verify that they were right! Just go!
I swung by on my lunch break to grab a quick bowl of their beef pho. The pho itself was fine. The broth was sweet and mild, but had some black pepper for a little extra flavor. The standard garnishes were included on the side in a plastic sandwich bag and included bean sprouts, a lime wedge, jalapeno, and a very small amount of thai basil. Chili oil is available upon request.Unfortunately, the portion size of the pho was quite small, especially for the price. If you're used to pho shops on Sandy or 82nd, this bowl of pho is smaller than the usual "small" pho that you find at other shops around town. See my picture for scale. It's not a generous portion size at all.Despite having to order at the counter the service was quite good. I don't love having to tip up front though. That's a trend I wish would die already.
The first time I came here it was spot on -- crunchy baguette and great ratio of meat (get the bbq pork) to fixings. Second time, something was missing, perhaps the mayo? Seemed consistent among the set of sandwiches we ordered. Hopefully it was one off...
Great banh-mis and noodle bowls. Pho is alright. For meat eaters ordering a noodle bowl or a rice bowl, I would recommend the lemongrass chicken over the other choices. My vegetarian companion was a fan of their veggie options.
