My daughter and I just dined at Le Pigeon and were so impressed with the food - it was exquisite and creative. Each dish had a unique mix of textures and flavors. We sat at the counter which was a treat: we got to see how each dish was prepared and the attention placed on the details. In addition to the five dishes in the Chef’s Tasting Menu, we ordered the supplemental foie gras flambé which was delicious! The dessert was an unexpected two-part, both very tasty; the most surprising: foie gras profiterole. Who would have thought of foie gras for dessert? It was incredibly flavorful with just the right amount of sweetness. Overall, service and food were excellent! Truly deserving of a Michelin star!
Our last Friday night chef’s tasting counter dinner at Portland’s Le Pigeon was a revelation worthy of at least one Michelin star, indeed. Absolutely spectacular courses with equally impressive reserve wine pairings. Truly sublime. Service was so friendly and casual, and the causal atmosphere really made us feel at home. It was so Portland, indeed — taken to a stratospheric culinary levels. Can’t wait to get back for a second try sometime.
The food is always excellent and the service is great. You prepay for your meal when you book your seating and must arrive within 15 minutes of your reservation or else you'll lose it, however, the party before us sat at their table and had a few drinks after their meal. We waited for 30 minutes outside in the cold before the serving staff eventually told them they had to leave and we could be seated. When you prepay $600 for a meal and the restaurant has strict policies about tardiness I don't think it's appropriate to make your patrons have to wait that long for a table.
We dined in on a Wednesday night and had a great time. My partner had a couple dishes from the vegetarian menu and raved about all of them. We sat at the counter and enjoyed watching the crew in the kitchen.Great food. Approachable staff. Very comfortable setting.
This one is a tough one. Le Pigeon has a great history of being one of the most decorated restaurants in Portland. Sitting at the Chef's table (like sitting at the bar) is a fun experience and the servers are really attentive and sweet. If you go with someone, get the main menu AND the vegetarian menu and you'll get more variety of dishes. There are some yummy dishes. I really enjoyed the non-alcoholic drink pairing (very creative). But there were also dishes that were just okay. And normally I wouldn't complain, but for the reputation and the price Le Pigeon has, I feel like I can say something. And maybe it's because I watched the chef squeeze lemon, after lemon on all the dishes but a lot of the dishes tasted really sharp and it kind of took away from some of the great flavors that the dishes had. My honest review is that for my experience, I probably would have given it a 4.5.
Each and every bite was absolutley fantastic. Both myself and my wife thoroughly enjoyed our meal. You can tell the chef is extremely talented as you could taste so many flavors and textures in each bite. Both my wife and myself have dined at multiple michelin star (including 3 stars) and this was on par with the best. Highly recommended. My only complaint to the meal was the wine pouring - we ordered the reserve wine pairings and you could tell the server/sommelier was purposefully pouring smallest portions absolutely possible... well below average... felt a bit ripped off... oh well, life goes on..
Abit pricy. Texture across dishes were a bit redundant. Some dishes with different items just didn't go well with each other. Some of the dishes were superb, and also very interesting. The mussel dish was our favorite.
Stop reading and make your reservation today…If you live or visiting Portland, Le Pigeon is a gem you do not want to miss. Key takeaways: the service was exceptional, the tasting menu was an avalanche of flavors that only got better with each plate, and the ambience was intimate but still relaxed. My Le Pigeon experience went beyond what I imagined. Pricing is high, but the memories and taste Last a lifetime.Go, try, thank me later.
I’m a foodie (sorry I know this word is totally quotidian and banal at this point), but I’ve eaten a lot of different foods and flavors ever since I became a fan of Anthony Bourdain. Thus, I was BLOWN AWAY by the fact that Gabriel Rucker and his world class chefs were able to create 7 different TOTALLY UNIQUE FLAVORS through each of the 7 courses of the tasting experience. We sat at the chef’s table and watched the talented and very experienced chefs create absolutely stunning and highly artistic plate after plate. This tasting experience is absolutely incredible and filled with so many unique and high quality foods that I can’t believe they offered the entire experience for only $175 for 7 courses. After years of searching out the most delicious and memorable food experiences, this will easilygo down in my gastronomical archives as one of the best.
Amazing food!! I will definitely come back!!
