The perfect no-frills-corner-pub-slash-dive-bar. Stiff drinks, decent food, and friendly staff keep me coming back to this retro tavern cavern. My only gripe is that smokers rule the patio. Wish, wish, wish they would just ban smoking back there, because it's a great patio.
Big fan of the food and the folks working here. Great drinks and prices as well. The burger will never steer you wrong. Awesome patio.
So I've been to this bar a handful of times, like the atmosphere every time except this time, took my lady to get a burger and on the way ran into a friend and invited him along cause "Lay Low" is a great place to eat, so upon entering the bar noticed that the bar tender that's been there every time I had been there wasn't but ok, so we looked over the menu, decided and I placed the order and apparently rubbed Will and Grace "the bar keep & the dirty cook" the wrong way because I didn't say to go till after I paid and only gave the change from paying for the food, I wasn't tipping them for taking my order I normally tip after I'm satisfied with the service so I watched the bar keep go to the dirty cook and whisper something to it, I thought it was fishy and mentioned it to my lady who told me to relax and I went on to play some video poker and happened to win a little, I cashed out and went to collect my winnings and the bar keep informed me that he would not be cashing anymore tickets for me or anyone in my party and that if I did win again I would have to come back the next day to collect, so when the food came he just tossed it on the table and walked away well I didn't feel comfortable in "Lay Low" and said I wanted to leave and we all left the bar went out to the parking lot to eat and when I opened my to go box I was stunned (as you all will be when you see the pic) I immediately went back in to ask where the fries were and the bar keep (after negotiating with him) had the cook "drop some fries in the basket" he gave them to me and I left, well the fries were not cooked all the way, I ordered bacon and got 1 3in. piece and no blue cheese so as I was leaving with the uncooked fries the cook yelled wheres the tip and the bar keep says you get what you pay for, so while we were eating the cook came outside and was harassing us and very rudely telling us that it wasn't a hangout and to leave, so that's what we did due to embarrassment cause there was a crowd by then, I'm very much disappointed with Lay Low's help and won't be returning to be disrespected or disappointed again, so 10 thumbs down for Lay Low bar on 60th and Powell.
Great little spot for live shows, huge patio, awesome service.
Cool oldschool Portland dive bar . Has live music on select Saturday nights, featuring local Portland bands. Great bar food too
Oh my god, I love the lay low. I pretty much only want to come here, but I go other places so I’m not some creepy guy just sitting in the corner of the lay low all the time.I’m fairly sure the burger here is the best burger on the planet, but I of course would have a hard time verifying that.
The food and service is on point. Great bartenders, great vibes. Stoked they have a good selection of veggie options for the homies.
This place had everything I was looking for when I had to find a place to work from on a rainy Portland afternoon. Happened to have my doggo with me. This place had covered, heated outdoor seating and was dog-friendly. My bartender/server was very friendly and helpful in getting our seats warm and comfy outside. Another plus, great pub-grub (maybe even a step up from the regular pub stuff)! I ordered some Marionberry Habanero wings and they were great! I will definitely be back for both day and late night hangs.
Classic dive bar. Quality drinks and service. Nice food. Good slots. Fantastic patio. If you see hermes be sure to rub his head and pat his belly for good luck (he likes it don't worry :) )
I had one of the best ciders I've ever had here don't remember what it was called something tangerine I think but it was amazing
