The manager kicked us out for asking for a bigger table. We were a party of 6, but he was trying to cram us into a place for a table which was clearly for 4. Then, the manager just decided to kick us out, saying that he couldn’t serve people like us who do not listen to him. Did we argue? Surprisingly not. I just said that we have always been here as a party if 6 and was never given a smaller table than the one we requested for. I told all of my close Korean and Asian friends about this, and the majority of them do not go there anymore. I hope they soon realize that one wrong customer service can lead to losing more than just that one group of customers.
Best Korean BBQ in Portland!! Great quality meat, very authentic & so yummy! They seem a bit short staffed but the call button receives prompt attention!
This is one of the best Korean BBQ places in Portland. They have three choices for all-you-can-eat menu. Staff are helpful. Great tasting meats.
First of all, the food here is excellent. I have been multiple times and have always been impressed. The facilities are comfortable and clean, and the service is fantastic. That's why I feel the need to speak up on behalf of the employees. The ownership's claim that the "media" is reporting false information is absolutely incorrect. The media reports are based on an official investigation by the U.S. Department of Labor that found that they withheld tips, withheld OT pay, and allowed managers to skim worker's tips. The ownership says that they did not understand all the labor laws because they are a small business, but there is nothing complicated about paying OT and letting workers have their tips. Now, while I personally won't be going back to Kkoki, everyone is free to make their own decision. I just want people to do so based on what actually occurred.
It's a unique experience to cook your own food. The meat is brought out based on your requests. You have options that are tiered based on prices. Theres also veggies and "appetizers" that you can eat while your food cooks. The meat is all marinated and cooks on an open grill at your table. I personally enjoyed the beef and chicken from our options. The pork we tried was a little spicy but good also. Good group meal or date experience.
The grilled spicy squid, beef intestines, beef tongue and LA galbi are all very good and delicious. But when we went, the beef tongue and intestines were sold out. Generally speaking, the meat quality is very good, and the variety is also very rich.
Fancy Soju cocktails with a lot of flavors. Delicious foods with reasonable prices compare with Korea restaurant around Portland and Vancouver. I love the tokkboki cheese that has the hard boiled OMG so yummy
Great experience! Delicious, the service was speedy and our waitress was super helpful (hubby and I are slightly inexperienced). The only comment I'd make, and i didn't take any stars away for it as that wouldn't be fair but...they played one song on repeat. Like..ONE SONG, over and over and over again. It wasn't overly loud and hubby ignored it but honestly that was a first for me and it's kind of intrusive, I know many wouldn't be bothered. Kind of curious if it will be the same song next time I go ?
Excellent selection of protein choices, plenty of other options if you don't want to partake in their all you can eat meat selection. The night we went seemed understaffed, but our waiter was doing his best. The staff were friendly and able to explain how their BBQ system of ordering worked, great for first timers.
Absolutely divine. Waited 15 minutes at K-town BBQ and it was clear we were not going to get a table in that Smokey and oily environment, gave a call to Kkoki, they said they were busy (week before Thanksgiving) but said we should stop by. The wait to sit down was longer than usual but I could tell the servers were doing their best. Despite last call happening soon for all you can eat, we didn't feel rushed and they served quality meats. Great food, ambience, not smokey, and most importantly, very very tasty and fresh BBQ meats and banchan. I believe we paid 64 dollars total with tip, come hungry! Servers were very polite too and attentive, especially when we asked for an extra side of fish cakes. Would stop by this location again in the future! I wish they had BBQ places like this in Seattle!
