This is our go to spot in SE Portland. We like the dark and cozy inside and the bustling and active outdoor seating options as well as great drinks. The servers are always friendly and they have a bomb plant based/vegan burger with awesome shoe string fries. The happy hour is also fabulous for food and drinks and you will probably run into us at some point if you come in because we are there all the time. I highly recommend stopping in.

I visited with a freind on Friday, June 3rd for Happy Hour (4 to 6pm)We shared a Nacho off the happy hour menu with the added pulled pork. Its was great! The pulled pork was tender and delicious.I also had the house Margarita. It was good. The only negative is the lack of parking in the area. If you are lucky and find a parking space close by. Its limited to 1 hour! 2 hour parking is available 2 blocks away and is also had to come by.

The drinks were great and the nachos were mind-blowing!! Service was fast and friendly!

If you go to Kay’s you best know that Angie is the best bartender. Every time I go there she always gots me.

The food here just gets better and better, it's always a treat to get to eat here!Possibly the greatest little bar in the whole of the northwest too!! Keep it up!

My daughter and I showed up just before last call. The bartender was so sweet, we were able to order two drinks a piece and some food. The drinks and fries totally hit the spot for me. She was even willing to stay open a little after closing so we could finish our food. Will definitely be back.

Seems the bartender is not poc friendly or, at least, certain poc. That guy really has issues. Very unpleasant experience. It’s a shame.

I have to say I had a hard time giving Kay’s three stars because we are frequent customers of theirs but our recent experience there deemed it appropriate. My boyfriend and I go to Kay’s fairly often. We love the nachos and the bartenders are pretty good at what they do. Recently we decided to bring my parents there. We all had masks on when we entered. We’re all vaccinated. My father forgot to put his on. Yes I understand he should have but he simply forgot. The young lady who is a waitress there came at him while he’s literally about to sit down, and in a very abrasive way kept repeating “do you have a mask!, you need to have a mask!” It was very rude and unnecessary. I understand restaurant and bar employees need to tell customers at times to wear their masks as they are walking around but she should have either just let it go cuz he’s about to sit down and would have taken it off if he had one, or if she had to say something, could have been much more pleasant about it. You don’t talk to customers like that, especially your elders. I highly encourage the manager there train their employee in approach. She ruined the mood of our night.(Update: your response clearly showed your lack of integrity as a manager and you chose to make comments on other matters vs the point I was trying to make. We’re all frustrated and tired of the current situation. Doesn’t mean you can go around and be disrespectful to others, especially when it’s obvious they were not intentionally trying to go against your business mask rules. And just FYI, I did actually write you guys a 5 star review a couple years ago before Covid after our first visit there. Your response brought about the negative review. How you handle a customer complaint is important.)

First night in Portland and I chose right. Kay's Bar is a well established Bar that not only has an excellent selection of brews, and spirits, but has one of the best burgers I've ever tasted. We started the evening with the nachos and pulled pork, and were very pleasantly surprised at not only the portion but also the flavors. The pulled pork was juicy and very flavorful, and the black beans made it just perfect. Also enjoyed the PDX Burger which even though its served ala carte, your not going to want much for the usual burger and fries combo you'd find elsewhere. While we did order a basket of fries, they were more than enough for the 3 of us.I'm glad I chose here for a quick and easy meal, and I can definitely say I'll be back.

A great cozy no fuss bar in Sellwood. Solid drinks and the nachos were amazingly delicious!
