Phil Rosenthal wasnât kidding. This place is amazing. I understand the popularity, even though it increased the noise level and slowed down the service. We will definitely return, especially come winter and snow. We are looking for the true Russian experience, after all.
We ordered from the happy hour and dinner menu, and everything was stellar!
Met and exceeded our high expectations. The food was traditional yet inventive, full of flavor, and well proportioned â you wonât leave here hungry! We especially enjoyed the cabbage rolls, dumplings, pate, fish platesâ¦well, we enjoyed it all, really. The infused vodka was excellent, and we had a lot of fun trying the different flavors. The vibe and ambiance were awesome â itâs poppinâ and family friendly all in the same space, making it feel like a party at home. The service is absolutely excellent â youâll meet several servers who can each explain every detail of a dish and are happy to repeat if you miss something. Moreover, the included service fee means that all of the servers are well-compensated and receive great benefits â a movement we hope to see spread throughout the city and country. We canât wait to head back to Kachka soon!
Turn off: allowing a dog into the indoor dining area. Thatâs just unacceptable and unsanitary, and inconsiderate to any patron(s) who may not like having animals nearby while eating. Noise level was a bit high. And price was too much for the basic comfort food offered.
Our out of town guest loved Kachka as well as the hosts!!!
The waitress was super nice and food was amazing. Even helped with a birthday surprise!
The food was unique and fantastic. We shared a number of plates and loved each one. The ambiance and decoration were also really great. The service was fantastic and I loved their new service charge model.
The menu has been modified since we last came (pre-pandemic). It features more "western" styled dishes than the earlier versions. There are still Russian dishes available of course, but that section of the menu has been slimed down a bit. The good news though is that all the dishes (that we tried) were excellent (dumplings, deviled eggs with a Russian twist, tomato salad, flatbread, and a cheese/pasta like dish). We will return in the future.
We had a wonderful variety of Eastern European food excellently prepared. Staff was most welcoming and helpful with the menu. Deserts were a great reward.
Amazing! One of the best dining experiences I've had in Portland.
